Stopping on obstacles.

By GML, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I'm still fairly new to the game, and while I appreciate that it has easier rules than 40k, I am used to having to overthink stuff at times.

Now, this came up in a game against the guy who got me into X-wing and is known around the LGS as the one who knows the rules like the back of his hand. He mentioned that when you land on an obstacle, you only lose your action / roll for damage when you initially land on it. When you are moving off of the obstacle, you do not suffer the effects again. Now, in the game this was favouring my move and I trusted his judgement on it, but when I got home I read through the rules and couldn't find anything to support.

So consider this thread more of my reaffirming the correct way of doing things.

With instance A, it is clear that the Interceptor would not have to suffer the negative aspects of flying through an asteroid because the template doesn't touch the rock. But with instance B, because the template is placed over the rock, he would suffer the asteroid hit, correct?

Correct on both accounts.

If you're going to hit a rock, at least do it fast enough to go through the rock, lol.
