Gluing Squadrons to the Trees?

By RedPriest, in Star Wars: Armada

Does anyone do this, glue the individual squadron minis into the trees?

In my superlazy'n'cheap storgae system, I find some of them (lookin' at you B-Wings) pop off the trees very easily.

Please, if you can come up with reasons why I'm insane for thinking of doing such a thing, please post here.

Thanks o7

Hmm, depends. S Does losing even 1 lone fighter bother you? Is set up times too much of a hassle? Or do you just want to store them away and not have to worry about them at all? If the answer is yes to that, then by all means, glue them in to the trees.

But here's another angle: do you have plans to do any painting or repainting in the future? Does not having a fully clear flight stand bother you? (if you use super glue, you're going to be clouding clear plastic, though this is a pretty minour quibble). If you drop a fully glued figure, or shuffle it around in a box, it has a lot more mass behind it i which is harder on the thin plastic components. So, depending on your storage space and handling, you might end up with a B wing that has its laser cannons clipped because of it.

That's all I can think of. For the record, I glued mine in after I painted them... I also made sure the squadron 'trees' were parcelled out to my liking among the squadrons

Sounds good, thanks for the input. No plans to paint squadrons. I am mostly concerned with losing a fighter due to keeping them all in the core box, but it is rare that I tip or jostle the box. It stays fully flat on a shelf or at a 45 degree angle if I'm carrying it under an arm for some reason. I am as careful as possible while in transit. I would not be inclined to glue the trees to the base or in the center of the tree. I feel like that would make them too rigid for transport or dropping.

Not a prroblem, mate. I keep all of my stuff in the core box too, and they'll stay there until I can find something tall enough to fit a Victory/ISD in a way that I like. It should be fine then, but I'd still say gluing the fighters in isn't too bad an idea. Much like you said, I wouldn't glue the trees or the peg to the base. It's too rigid, too awkward to put in the ID markers for some, and I like being able to flip one or two dials around.

I glued my ships to the tree, and then just insert the tree into the stand as I start play. I have a 4 tier tackle box and I have the bases in the inner two tiers and the trees in the outer tiers, on the one side I have Imperials on the other Rebels.

Mine don't pop off as they are tight in.

Most of mine are tight in but, some of my A, Y, and B-Wings, and a few of the TIE variants, have other plans.

I must be tired, for when I clicked on the title, I thought it had to do with actual trees and/or a metaphor was involved....
