Didn't make it last week but hopeful for Friday. Want to get some games in before i head out to GenCon end of the month.

I won't be there this Friday (July 3rd)... Sounders FC home game. They need supporters more than ever.

Since bombs will forever change with wave 7 and since each faction has the ability to use bombs now.

I propose a bomb challenge for friday.

Winner will be the person who scores the most points.

0 points if you loose.

If you win you get 1 point for each hit and 3 points for each crit. You will receive negative point if you hit your own ships.

So in short:

Seismic charge is 1 point the per ship hit

Proton bomb is 3 points per ship hit

Proximity mine can deal 0-9 points per mine.

I don't exactly have any builds set up to utilize bombs, but I saw your thread in the forums and I was thinking about heading up north on a Friday to meet new players and catch a few games.

Also, any idea what the traffic looks like in that area from 1830-1900 or so?

5 he bomb thing is just a side bar for bragging rights. Not every one brings a challenge list just something to keep it interesting. Depend on base traffic once you are past macord airforce base it should take you less then 10 min to get to the store. Getting past macord/ft Lewis is a crab shoot on how bad traffic could be. Usually I believe there is traffic around the bases until around 730-8 but I come the other way so I could say for sure. I5 south is pretty good. 512 seems to be pretty good. Don't know about I5 north sorry.

Hope you can make it.

I actually like the idea of challenges like using bombs etc... it kind of stretches the brain, makes you look at the game in a new way. I will probably be getting involved in those in future!

As for traffic, I am heading north... and not much I can do about that. Just have to see how it turns out. I figure I will head out around 6:30pm and see what happens.

Should be there tomorrow if the fates are willing! See you there!

We're normally there till midnight so you should be able to get a couple games in.

Traffic doesn't look totally horrible once you get past Dupont! See you eventually!

I think left my range rulers and templates at the store. Can someone hold on to them until next Friday? Thanks! Good meeting everyone!

Okay we found them.

Per request from friday. This week's challenge is earn the highest mov using a list that contains a tie defender

Sorry I couldn't make it last night hoe did it go?

Sorry I couldn't make it last night hoe did it go?

Well, this hoe played using a TIE defender just like you asked.

I guess it went alright...

Just a reminder it's the last Friday of the month that's means it's epic night.

There seemed to be a lot of people who do t want to play epic so I am wondering if you guys want to move epic to the first Friday of the month or leave it on the last.

Last. Since I don't come on the 1st friday.

Okay looks like I might make it at 830. Any body up going want to try a team scum list?

I am working my way upto the idea of epic play. I won't be there this Friday, but if everything works out-- I am going to spend the next month trying to wrap my head around a 200/300pt build and make it in August.

I should be back on Aug 7 though!

I got a question I want to throw out there. There is plenty of documentation about when you can and can't measure range, and the consequences. Not so much about when you can measure your own and your opponents firing arcs.

There seems to be an etiquette that people don't measure arcs unless they are actually going to fire, but I haven't seen anything concrete in other situations. Such as...

Could a player measure their own firing arc prior to executing a boost or barrel roll? (To determine whether an opponent was in arc).

Could a player measure an enemy's arc prior to a boost or barrel roll? (To determine whether they were in/out of the enemy's arc)

Could a player measure their own firing arc on an enemy during the Activation phase when they were selecting an Action (ie Marksmanship.)

Take care!

No. You are technically only allowed to measure range when you preform an action that checks range. Loophole#1 The game also allows you to attempt an action you know will fail. Like a target lock on the other side of the board. As long as you measure from closest point to closest point between you and the ship you are attempting to target lock (this may or may not revel range of any ships between the two ships)

You also are only allowed to check arc during an attack.

I have a thread going on for this topic. I have included the link below. Just know that I personally am inclined to agree. I have NEVER seen another player check my firing arcs unless I was firing and say... my ship was facing me and he was doing me a favor. So, I definitely am leaning towards "no, this is not good." But... well, read on and help my brain become unhurting over this whole thing:

I appreciate the feedback, but I must admit that I am a little confused. Hopefully, with a little bit of clarification I can get this steered in the correct direction, or someone might be able to fill in the gap and bring everything together for me.

My questions were specifically about "checking firing arc."

The answers I got were typically about "using range rulers."

And that actually did seem to be a lot of the feedback. People were quoting the FAQ or rulebook and actually substituting the words "check firing arc" for "checking for range."

Ie, the general underlying theme seemed to be "Whenever you check for firing arc, you must use a range ruler. Therefore, all of the rules that apply to measuring for range also apply for measuring firing arcs."

The thing is, I am scouring the core rulebook, FAQs, and forums to find something that says something to that effect, and I am coming up empty handed. Something that specifically states that a range ruler must be used to measure firing arc, or something that says "all of the range ruler rules apply to firing arc."

The closest thing I have found is the "Firing Arc and Range Example" from pg 11 in the core rulebook.

To confuse the issue further, he didn't use a range ruler. He used a laser....

=================================

Anyway... this is my guess:

You may only use a range ruler to measure firing arc.

Therefore, all of the rules and conditions that apply to a range measurement apply to the measurement of firing arc.

A laser can be substituted for a range ruler, but it is a substitute for a range ruler and therefore all the above applies.

So, that all being said, is this the correct interpretation of what everyone is saying?

And if possible, can someone actually find it in print?

One of the reasons I posted here was to give you guys the option of replying here, but thanks much doji!

Your input definitely helped!

Sorry thought you posted the link to reply there not here.

No need to apologize! I appreciate the feedback no matter where you posted it! And it definitely helped!

See you next Friday!
