Looking for a Group in San Antonio

By JB4748, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

After seeing Doctor X's success in his Alaska post I'm going to try the same. My friend and I are looking for a group to join for any of the Star Wars RPGs in San Antonio, Texas. I've hit up every Meetup group, but none have FFG RPGs listed (if I missed one please correct me). Every game store sells the books around here steadily, but there are no public games listed. I will be posting on those stores as well.

I am looking to play since I am usual the GM in every other group I've been a part of, but if the only way I can get in or start a group is to run a game I'm up for it. I've read about online gaming using Google and other video services, but I'd much rather sit around a table.

Try Dragon’s Lair in San Antonio (see http://dlair.net/sanantonio/).

Their Austin store runs all sorts of games, including FFG. I’m fairly confident that the San Antonio store would do the same. If nothing else, that would be a good place to start and you could ask them what other stores in the area might also run RPGs like FFG Star Wars.

Yeah Dragon's Lair is a great store that gave me some good leads that unfortunately didn't pan out. If (when...)I do find a group I plan on using one of their gaming rooms for a few games to have a neutral meeting place to get to know folks before holding the games at someone's home.

Well, at the worst I've at least finally created a FFG forum account ;)

Cool. I’m glad you’ve already checked out Dragon’s Lair. Here in Austin, my personal favorite FLGS is “Whose Turn Is It? Games”, on South Lamar. They’re a lot smaller than DL, but also more personal. They don’t have a store cat, however.

I know that WTIIG have been very helpful to people asking them about types of games they don’t stock, as well as other places in town to check for things that they might be out of. DL is much the same in that regard, at least here in Austin. So, I would imagine that their San Antonio store is likewise.

Ironically, I found WTIIG through meetup.com. Stuart (one of the guys who works there) had set up a meetup page for his EotE SWRPG that he was running. He has since switched to F&D, and he no longer tries to work on the same nights when he’s running the game, but he’s still working there and still one of the most helpful guys I’ve met.

But if you’ve already tried DL and meetup.com, then maybe someone else on this forum will have some other ideas for you.

Good luck!

Just found this, but I run a bi-weekly Friday night game at my house. Though I'd like to find a group I could play in personally, rather than run for since I already run a game.

Just moved to SA, was wondering if this group is still going?
