Triple Defender: what to watch out for?

PS high enough to avoid Predator, low enough to know if you need to spend focus for defence.

3 defence on 6 hull with three ships, with the same firepower as an elite intercepter or Xwing trio.

What do I need to watch out for?

Interceptors could give you issues, as could engine upgraded large base ships. The Defender's lack of non-red hard turns and your only greens being predictable straights could make both potentially difficult to keep in arc. You'd want to try and engage at a bit of a distance to prevent them from being able to boost to safety, avoid prolonged close range conflicts.

If you can do that, then it looks like a pretty fun list to fly.

Just got in a Vassal game vs Brobots- he had an early advantage at range 3, but I started to get in close with focus Kturns. Lost vesery, killed Iggy B, then chased Iggy C toward the asteroids and dodged his Sloop fire. a few good hits and my wounded Onyx squadrons snatched victory.

i would try this and fly as a mini swarm

Not surprised. Defenders are actually quite good against aggressors. The white k-turn makes a big difference in that matchup.

I'm not a fan of triple defenders, even though I'm a fan of defenders. I feel a third defender doesn't add anything to help with the list's weaknesses. I've run 2 deltas + Fel and I've run 2 deltas + 3 academies. They fly very differently but both can be effective. One good thing about triple defender is that you can use your 5 straight with all 3 to get out of dodge when you need to then k-turn and come back in swinging. This is an important tactic for beating turrets and for jousting against enemy lists that have gotten spread out enough for you to focus on elements or avoid being focussed in turn.

I might give 3 Defenders a go. Maybe 3 Onyx with the new Tie modification. If it turns banks green it will be pretty helpful.

I do like this:

Delta w/ Flechette

Delta w/ Ion

Full loaded Soontir.

You don't get an intiaitive bid, but you do get two hardy ships that can back up Soontir and potentially Ion+Stress something, which is almost a death sentence for that ship.

I wish I had something to contribute here, as I love flying dual defenders. I've never tried 3 because I'm a little scared of the firepower drop to trips.

Instead of Determination on the first Vessery + 2 Onyx list, what about Calculation instead? With Vessery only vulnerable to a possible 2 crits, I think Calculation would be a better pick, yes?
