It's Sunday and this means Arkham time. Cthulhu and the Black Goat, vs Tony (2 starting Sanity, ouch), Diana, Vincent, Luke and Lily. Not too bad characters, horrible starting items (no weapons around), but some nice clues. Cthulhu has quite a long doom track, and despite the Herald is a great doom accelerator, I thought we could easily make it.
Wrong. The game was a disaster: Lily and Vincent were sucked through gates without enough clues on turn 1. Then I had Endlessly Breathing htting. Then a Strange Sightings card, and doom was at 6. Still, beatable.
So I managed to have seven (7!!!) investigators LiTaS during the game, only 6 progress markers on the rift tracks, but enough to open and move a rift on the proper pattern, and n incredible bad luck. Like 8 dice to score one success and losing that combat check not once, not twice, but three times in a row.
So, after a winning streak of 35 games at Arkham Horror, now Cthulhu and the Black Goat are celebrating their rites beating on drums made of Vincent's skin.
