By dvryan, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

If one of my ships/squadrons flies off the map, is it automatically destroyed?

Yes.

Destroyed Ships and Squadrons.

Pg 5. Reference Book.

"Additionally, a ship or squadron is destroyed if a portion of its base is outside the play area."

"When determining if a squadron or ship is outside the play area, ignore the squadrons activation slider and the ship's shield dials, and the plastic portions of the base that frame the shield dials."

Reinforced with:

Play Area.

Pg 9. Reference Book.

"If any portion of a ship's or squadron's base is outside the play area, that ship or squadron is destroyed. For this purpose, ignore activation sliders, shield dials and the plastic portions of a ship's base that frame shield dials."

If you fly off and back on in the same manoeuvre you are however all groovy.

You never fly of the map, because ships are picked up and then moved directly to their destination. Doesn't matter if part of the man tool is off the board.

Factually maybe, narratively no.

Besides if you don't make a whooshing sound you're not playing properly.
