Firespray Love(FFG, take notes)

By Stilgod, in X-Wing

I'd like some kind of rapid fire ability like you see in episode 2. Jango lit up space with the amount of firepower he laid down. I don't think the twin laser turret is the right idea for it either.

I'd also like to see some kind of flak cannon.

You mean like this?

I'm pretty sure the rapid fire laser Jango used was the Autoblaster. It fills space with so many lasers that you simply can't dodge them all.

I have recently become a huge fan of the firespray. I would love to see a large ship only illicit that allowed a second mod, similar to the royal guard tie title. Then you could throw engine upgrade and auto thrusters on it. Maybe call it "Shug's special" after mechanic Shug Ninx. Also make it unique, maybe 4 points so it stays balanced. Plus auto thrusters on 2 dice is way less overpowered than it is on ships that can use it now.

Yeah, the Firespray's good, but it's not a fat boat- in order for that to work, scum would need the quality crew upgrades that would make a fat boat work, like C3P0.

Thats exactly what I'm suggesting: C3p0-levels of upgrades to make Firesprays comparable to other Fat ships in cost and effectiveness. Dengar gives them 3 AG against ships they've got target locked and the upgraded engine is a PTL+Engine. At the end of the day, they still lack the turret+other goodies that Fat Han or Superdash have, and that's fine. A ~60 point Fat-Firespray should be possible IMO.

The Firespray's uber upgrade is K4 Security Droid.

It's Heavy Laser Cannon actually. Card art matches the gun perfectly.

Are you really equating K4 to C3P0...? Were that the case, we'd see Firesprays at every other finals table. As of now, the only one seeing success is Sable's IG/Boba build.

For massive barrage I'd use something like the Armada rules (for ships vs fighters)

Mutli-Blastercannon

The Multi Blastercannon comes with an advanced computerized target selection system. It fires a lot of shots while the computer switches between the targets.

Range 1-2

Attack: 3 dice

Attack every target in your front (primary) fire arc. Completely resolve each attack before moving on to the next. You may not use Focus Tokens or Target Lock to modify the attack dice. (Maybe receive one stress after each use of the weapon... kind of cooldown for the weapon)

Slots: Cannon + Modification (weapon + computer system)

Points: 8 (? maybe less if the stress rule is added))

I don't think the game needs more ways to roll a crap ton of dice. Offense is already heavily favored.

I adore that Bounty Hunters Guild, but I'd love it more if the Target Lock let you turn [eye] to [hit] instead - free focus on attacks is mathematically similar to free target locks, but gives Boba and Krassix some love when it comes to letting their reroll abilities truly shine.

One caution: How does the target lock rues interact with missiles and torpedos that require you to spend to fire? If this ends up "It's illegal to fire them", that's OK, but could make for a nasty newbie trap.

which is good, that way the game comes to an end, no camping and indef tanking. The one taking bold actions should be rewarded. Well done (mostly) by FFG.

Keep in mind Dengar+BHG will give you +1 green die against your bounty if you have it in arc.

Too bad there's not really any help for the firesprays in the upcoming waves. Tractor beam cannon could possibly be interesting, but not likely a game changer.

I think they need at least one of the following:

Ability to take a second crew member

Ability to take boost and/or barrel roll without an upgrade card

Ability to take auto thrusters or some other defensive mod

They are still my favorite ship in the game, but I always feel like it's an uphill bill against all other large ships, either because of turrets, or native boost/barrel roll, or high agility/damage mitigation, or multiple crew slots. Not to mention agility 2 is probably the worst agility number in the game currently, and the new help for secondary weapons will really tear through firesprays quickly.
