Reinforced Shield Generators

Question: can you install a RSG for the port side on a YT-1300 and use it to swap over 1 shield point to starboard leaving port unprotected or to fore or aft giving the chosen side 2 points?

OR do the rules suggest that port/starboard are linked and fore/aft are linked only??

There are no port/starboard defense ratings on Sil 4 ships!

But, as I see it all shields on a ship are linked, so you can swap freely. If I remember correctly, the RSG will give you extra defense points, you can put wherever you like.

yeah, the total lack of port/starboard shields... TBH It appears in keeping with film canon,,, 'divert all power to the rear deflectors, watch for enemy fighters',,,, so it encourages 'attack postion' piloting in starship combat... yeah.. 1 RSG for 1 swapable point to area of choice seems a good idea,,, after all they are C3800 just to start with!!!

basically, the ship isn't big enough to need more emitters. Least that's the way I thought about it. Just when ships start getting to a certain size that they have to be spread more to cover flaws in the field. Once you get to battleship scale, I imagine shields are more of a formality and are largely concentrated on particularly weak areas on the ship, thus why star destroyers are so heavily armoured.
