Where has Rogue Trader taken you?

By BrotherFiacco, in Rogue Trader

I've been working on fan fiction for Rogue Trader primarily to expand on my own little sector of the galaxy.

I had a question came to mind recently while perusing different locales for inspiraton that I wanted to pose to you all just for fun.

Where have your stories led to exploring?

Content other people maybe wish I hadn't brought up ;) Also, the finer nuances of character, and NP Character development/fleshing out. This might seem weird, and your mileage may vary, but I like how Rogue Trader has other Rogue Traders, and these potentially critical personalities make great waves in things, possibly more than once. In Dark Heresy, you are Mystery Inc. ing your way through a Call of Cthulhu game, and I see the important OTHER characters as mostly just the one who sent you out, and the one you maybe saved, and might never see again. Otherwise, it's the one you are there to ace, and they will hopefully oblige you by dying. Only War is much the same; I don't know what other "(almost) as important as you" characters you are likely to meet" you might expect to see, and while Space Marines are epic enough to deserve epic foes, they just kill stuff, too, along with their crazy brothers, in Black Crusade. Like I said, your mileage may certainly vary, but I like to see Rogue Trader as a uniquely "you'll do other stuff, too" game, where you may have to actually make other friends, sense their double-crosses, persuade them to support you, instead of double-crossing you, and maybe only occasionally kill them, outright. This is a game where you are actually among the powerful, AND you get to go DO stuff, rather than just taking orders from the mighty, or only existing to kill **** no one else can, or spread your particular variety of crazy around, and it demands some equally cool, fleshed out opponents, who may even become allies, that you'll have to expect to see repeatedly. I haven't built too many for my world, yet, you've all heard about a few, but sitting down to build them is actually very fun, and in more ways than "this is how this villain likes to murder people." They might be a total space nazi, or the same thing, but the kind the Imperium is, possibly a lazy, entitled, good for nothing, or a decent human being surrounded by the Imperium; if you're me, they might even get weird anime themes, like a flying maid cafe in space (one good way I describe Aedan Qel-Drake), and all of them work equally well (to me). Unlike the others, this game demands people with personality, and I've very much enjoyed getting started on making some of those; their ships often have to have that, too, and that can also amuse, as well as matter, if you have to fight them, or depend on them.

I know this isn't quite what you were asking for, but you asked, so here we be. It's where I've explored, as I poked through all the books of this set (it's the only one I own all of, minus BDSM Dark Elf book, but that one is DTILL spendy). Someone else can now describe a place they enjoyed spelunking, before their "ally" tried to ace them. ;)
