If only I could get a Tie Fighter with an Primary of 3!!

By devotedknight, in X-Wing

I would be very happy if the was a Tie Fighter with a Primary weapons value of 3. The Primary value of 2 that the Tie Fighter has now is just not effective. About 6 of those would be grand!

This is a terrible idea. It'd be the only competitive list. There'd be no other.

I don't believe that! A lot of low pilot skill pilot would get blown away even before they could fire.

You want 6 ships with 3 attack dice? There's no other combination of 18 attack dice, not counting the 18 defense dice. I don't know if you're trolling or slow, but that squadron would overpower any other. It'd break the game.

It would never happen. Ever. The way the game's point system works is heavily based on the statline, besides the pilot skill and abilities and so forth. If there's an extra attack die, it'll get increased in point cost till it was similar in price to an Alpha Squadron Pilot. And then you're back to square one.

Toke Jopic?

5 black squadron + outmaneuver + hull upgrade

I think what the OP is actually looking for is the TIE Experimental M2.

And you know what? I could totally see that as a Title card.

Thanks! That is exactly what I am looking for.

I would think with this type of upgrade, you would be looking at 4 attack dice, but at the cost of losing 1 defense die and speed 5 straight

Well, considering that's a TIE Fighter with 2 single turbolasers strapped to the wings, you'd be looking at four attack dice, sure, but only at range 3-5 with an extra defence dice for the defender.

Maybe if this game wasn't based around stacking as many obnoxious upgrades as possible onto a fat turret 2 attack dice wouldn't be such a problem. Swarms of 2 attack dice ships used to dominate when lists were based around normal ships and not obnoxious game breaking HLC gunner FCS bullcrap.

You're kidding, right? Swarms beat Fat like Rock beats Scissors.

No that's his thing, he complains about the game not being swarm v swarm and talks about how stupid fat ships are.

It's sort of like ficklegreendice's crusade against primary weapon turrets, but more specific and with a side of nostalgia and swarm love.

Sure. This title adds 2 Hardpoints. Congrats.

Try destroying a whole TIE swarm in one salvo.

Sounds pretty good to me!

Title: TIE Experimental M2 "Big Gun"

Your upgrade bar gains 2 hard points. Your Primary Weapon value is reduced to 0.

Squad Points: 0

So for a total of 28 points - in Epic Play only - you get a 3 hull point TIE/LN which can fire two single turbolasers per turn.

Assuming we can come up with a way for the TIE/LN to generate energy...

Your pilot skill and your primary weapon value is reduced to 0. You my fly green manouvers only.

Hence they are not manned. They are remote controlled by a ship nearby. This ship may transfer energy to this Ties.

You guys are way overcomplicating it.

If you want to emulate the fact that the BigGun is less maneuverable than the Fighter, just reduce it's Agility by 1, instead of all that messing with the dial nonsense.

yeah ... just take a scyk with Mangler

yeah ... just take a scyk with Mangler

Pretty difficult for an Imperial player.

As an Imperial player, you would be fine with Tie Fighter values.

It's all going to be ok. The next imperial aces will have blue painted TIE Fighters and. Defender (maybe grey color) and feature the fixes for both.

Modification

TIE Fighter only

Rapid Fire Laser Canons

This ship increases its primary weapon dice by one. If target is hit cancel dice and assign two damage to target.

2 points? It would be a waste on many of the named pilots. Speaking of which, we need about 6 more named pilots for the Fighter, and at least two more actual good pilots for the defender.

Why would the tie fighter, possibly the best designed ship in the game, need a fix?

If it ain't broke then don't fix it.

Immediately after firing it must move the one speed template in reverse then resolve any collisions/off the board

Do lasers have recoil?

Is Star Wars not reskinned ww2 air combat? It's been that way since Episode 4 had Dambusters at the end.
