If only I could get a Tie Fighter with an Primary of 3!!

I would be very happy if the was a Tie Fighter with a Primary weapons value of 3. The Primary value of 2 that the Tie Fighter has now is just not effective. About 6 of those would be grand!

Mauler Mithel and Backstabber. MM can take VI to up the skill to 9. Backstabber can work at range 3. The only thing is the points, you are spending 16-19 points for a situational glass cannon with mid to high pilot skill. At that range you can just pick up a TIE Interceptor and lose the situation. It is sort of the same problem heavy scyks have. At that point level the durability really doesn't do them any favors.

It's all going to be ok. The next imperial aces will have blue painted TIE Fighters and. Defender (maybe grey color) and feature the fixes for both.

2 points? It would be a waste on many of the named pilots. Speaking of which, we need about 6 more named pilots for the Fighter, and at least two more actual good pilots for the defender.

It's not as good, but Black Squadron with Predator is part of the way to 3 dice. 4 of those + Backstabber + say, BSP with Intimidation is 5 enhanced attack TIEs and a utility ship.

Sure, but you could also use it to get a 4 damage Interceptor, or X-Wing. Or a 5 damage Phantom.

You're crazy if you think there'd be an extra red dice upgrade that costs much less than the 6pts an Alpha will run you over an academy. Since Opportunist and Expose both run 4pts, and you get an extra die with some pretty hefty restrictions, a straight 1 red upgrade would be at LEAST 5, if not 6 or more. So just take an Alpha, which also has a better dial and boost.

Agreed. A pack of Alpha Squadron Pilots always looks quite tempting as a replacement for academy pilots.

There is an upgrade for Academies which turns them into beasts.

The package includes a far better dial, a natural Engine Upgrade, so you could even add Autothrusters, and +1 firepower and it only comes for a price of 6 points.

The Scyks were never really ment to be a glass cannon. They were more supposed to be a build your own ship out of upgrades with the Heavy Scyk title. The only thing is that upgrades get expensive and at a finely tuned meta with the 100 point cap every scyk build ends up costing more points than what they actually perform on the table.

You want glass cannons it is the TIE Interceptors all the way then. They have the same maneuver as the TIE fighter with the 2 hards and the 4 straight being green and they have 1 more firepower.

Maybe the Heavy Scyk should have been ordinance and bombs only and cost one point, or better yet free. A 14 point ship that can carry a bomb would be great, or slap a cluster missile on it for a solid alpha strike. The cannon slot should have been a separate title costing one.

I'm pretty sure they intended the Heavy Syck to be a glass cannon. It is a ship with 3 hitpoints that can carry a big gun. If they were just a bit cheaper they could be a lot more useful. It sucks seeing +20 points go away with one attack.
