Dash + Rookie + 2 Bandit

By Arcsaber, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I was trying to go for a more interesting take on a squad, so that you wouldn't know who to shoot at. This is what I got.

Dash Rendar

Outrider

Mangler

Rookie Pilot

Flechette Torpedoes

Bandit Squadron Pilot

Concussion Missiles

Bandit Squadron Pilot

Concussion Missiles

How I play them: The Z-95s are up front, the Rookie right behind them, and Dash starts behind them but then moves out of the firing arcs and uses his barrel rolling to get in closer or farther away. I usually deploy them in a corner with Dash in back to bring the fight to me.

Surprising enough the Zs in another squad my brother built were able to take out a Fire Spray, and didn't get any success with the missiles.

2 Z-95's and concussion missiles seem to work very well.

Please try it out and tell me what you think!

I realized the Z's then cost a lot. The x-wing doesn't get off his flechette torpedo. So I think a better squad would be 2 Z's and X-wing with loaded Dash, or maybe a droid on the X-wing. Any suggestions?

Thanks Surly88,

That article was a great help. I played this team (Dash...) against a Decked out decimator (Rear Admiral Chiraneau, expose, ...) and Soontir Fel, who was decked out with PTL, Autothrusters, and stealth device.

To my surprise the decimator took out one fully loaded Z-95 at range one, instead of targeting the other who could use a missile. Never even used the x-wing's torpedos. Using a staggered formation pattern I kept the decimator from moving where he wanted, and started criting him hard.

Fel on the other hand survived until the very end. I just couldn't hit him. I see what you mean with Dash. He is not helpful when he can't hit. Dash finally got 2 hits on Fel and multiple on the decimator. Then My Z that had used its missiles finally got a close shot.

I won, but it wasn't what I was looking for.

That article is very interesting I haven't thought of Craken for some time. Nor would have I learned so much about timing or jousting.

Again thank you.

I dropped the missiles and torpedos. Now I have:

Dash

PTL

Outrider

Recon specialist

Mangler Cannon

1 X-wing (Red Squadron I believe)

2 Z-95s (Tala Squadron)

So far I have beat

Decimators, w/ Fel

IG-88's

Firesprays... etc.

It is very powerful if you joust with the 2 zs in front of the X so you're shooting with 3 dice almost every time.

In more than one game the z's were the only ones taken out, in others the z's finished off the last person.

I still need to play against Fat Falcons, only Chewie seems to be at threat due to his lack of getting crits.

Interesting Dash build. Do you find it better to have rec spec rather than Kyle Katarn? Seems like it would be a better choice there because you can still double focus, but you get a little more flexibility. Also, have you considered lone wolf or predator? Both upgrades really help to open up Dash's dial.

Cheers on the squad! It is refreshing to see more than 2 ships in a list :)

Thanks! I just recently played against a Coran and Dash Build, and effectively tied it. I flew alright and I shot at Conran for 5 turns until he died. Then it was down to both Dashes that were at the same health and almost the same build, so we decided to stop.

I have thought of using Predator, but I don't want people to target Dash right off, and both of those cards tend to make that happen. I was able to get around 2 hits a shot with the focus and one is a free crit. For those nasty swarms I can focus fire and destroy more in a shorter amount of time.

I also find having the Z-95 shoot first on a new target helps strip the tokens, then the X gets 3-4 dice on them and gives them plenty of damage.

Recon specialist allows me to get 2 focus one for attack and one for defence, or 2 for defence.

One of my favorite things is that I can easily fly in and take out a Dash if they have HLC equipped.

Thanks again,
