Favourite NPC

Who is your favourite NPC? The one you created that you love. Did those pesky PCs kill them?

Baubaratinnian Maddusin (Baub for short), Bothan and proprietor of Baub’s bistro, a jazzy cantina off the main spaceport in the Ulwan Bacheetska area of Nad Shaddaa. Baub serves an eclectic variety of the best spirits and spiced wines from around the galaxy, as well as, a surprisingly broad menu of exotic food items.

My PCs chief 'go to' source of jobs and info at the moment.

I'm going to cop out and mention a few. I thought it would be easier to decide -___-

Nossk is fantastic because he's bonkers and likes explosions. I do a creepy voice and channel my Heath Joker.

Shard has only shown up in our 2nd session - but will appear again. She's a self-insert in a way. When she crashed through the skyscraper window, snagged Zet in a coil and tried to jump off the building with her quary, the players went wild. The Tron Legacy track Fall is the signal that she's coming for her bounty.

Sora was fun for so many reasons. I got to really mess with the PC's emotions, watch Callia almost go dark side because of how Sora talked ot her, and also I like bringing in EU content as easter eggs, like I did with Nihilus here.

Mjr. Katryn Organa was really meant to be a do nothing NPC - a rival likely to die in a fight. Instead a Jedi cut her arm off so she'll be part of a Sinister Six team up I'm doing. The players really responded to her and are anxious to watch her reaction to the destruction of Alderaan, which is kind of a terrible thing to want to watch.

I can't go too much into detail about of my favorite NPCs just because my 2 favorite are key characters, and my Players read these forums).

My overall favorite is an NPC that only goes by the codename The Ambassador. I used him as the patron of my first group and he is now the rival of the patron (The other favorite) for my second group.

I like him because he manipulates situations, he lies, and he puts his allies in the line of fire just for fun. He doesn't like to give information to anyone, and when he does it is only to get them to go away not to help.

Before he was sending folks through dangerous situations in the name of "training" he was an agent of some kind that would take down targets before they even knew he was there. He had a falling out with at least one of them and it caused a rift that so far has lasted for decades.

Looks wise he is not spectacular or interesting, but does give the impression he owns the room wherever he is. He is human, but nobody knows from where. He shows up unannounced and never shows up in places that you want.

What I like most about him is after 6 months with him as the patron of my first group they knew very little about him even after interacting with him and his allies quite a bit. He showed up, did something fun or amazing and then was gone again.

The Ambassador's rival, the Scorpion is the patron of my current group. He is a droid assassin and has been destroying the plans of his rival for sport and personal gain. He does not interact with anyone unless he has to and he normally does through his agents and not directly. He dislikes all organic beings but will tolerate them if money is involved.

I like him the most because I am using him to destroy the other character. It helped link my two stories without having them be the same story so the characters I created for one story can be reused again.

While the names of the NPCs aren't exciting they have a purpose. The Ambassador's entrance to his story he was acting like an ambassador and had to negotiate a treaty. He is always trying to talk his way out of things. The Scorpion on the other hand had to use a codename to link him to The Ambassador, but also to show a bit of his personality in his name. You don't fear an Ambassador, but you are on edge immediately with someone named the Scorpion.

Tooga the Hutt

Tooga is an old (into his late 800s) Hutt who lives in a 'working retirement' on Nar Shadda, where he is the owner-operator and host of a very high class club and restaurant. (Dress code strictly enforced.) He's particularly fond of our party doctor (backstory) and so has been very congenial and generally helpful towards us. We've done more than a couple of totally legitimate cargo runs for his club & restaurant, usually involving express delivery of fresh meat and produce. As a 'retired' Hutt, he doesn't have a lot of the pull or criminal resources that are typically associated with Hutts, but he does know people, and on more than one occasion has "asked a friend" for us.

Blasto!

My heavy hired gun. He's a cyborg with a repulsor lift and a E-web mounted to his body. He's a super nice guy who is always there to back up the PCs should they call on him. They occasionally us him as a diversion to draw attraction so they can slip in behind and take out key targets.

I typically use these as player characters, and in any game I run they tend to show up eventually as contacts or aides to the PCs.

Derrik Jarrin, human male: A hotshot pilot and smuggler, sometimes affiliated with the Empire, mostly a pirate lord. Fond of fast ships and small guns, he has also been know to use a vibrosword, or even dual-wield the sword and blaster pirate style. Arrogant, aggravating, and exciting. Most recently, he is my PC in the main campaign I'm playing as an Imperial Defector Ace:Pilot/Rigger.

Ethan Drake, human male: A human cop/investigator/force sensitive/jedi, probably worked for CorSec or some other security force before becoming a (whatever he is now,) known to fully investigate something before passing a judgement. Calm in battle, favors melee combat but has been known to use a blaster. Most recent incarnation: a Sentinel: Shadow/Niman/Sherrif?(whatever was in the explorer book as a lawman type spec, can';t remember currently) PC with nearly 400xp before he was retired when the campaign ended

Ryla, Arkanian Offshoot female: enslaved at a young age for her mechanical acumen, Ryla is normally found by players enslaved to a side villain they encounter on their way to their primary objective. She is typically freed and stays with the party, working the mechanics jobs that most of my players never want to do. She is always force sensitive, but very rarely knows. Her combat specialty is martial arts, but can learn to use a saber if trained. Most recent incarnation: A slave to a pirate lord version of Derrik in the last WotC SWd20 campaign I ran, she stuck around long enough to get her jedi classes and lightsaber before being peeled off with a PC who was being retired (Jedi master/apprentice situation, PC was tired of being a Jedi and wanted to roll up a mechanic (gasp!) and I saw an opportunity for both characters to come back later, plus didn't need Ryla anymore as there would now be a PC mechanic)
