Home and Raring to Go !!!

By any2cards, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

As some of you know, I have some serious medical issues.

Several days ago, I returned home, from a nearly 16 month hospital stay. You cannot even imagine how sweet it is to be home.

I have spent the past few days getting the rest of my life in order. But since I have not had any gaming opportunities based on where I was at, I have felt massive withdrawal symptoms. No Descent 1e, Descent 2e, no X-Wing, no BAHOTH, no Catan, no nothing.

I have had to satisfy any cravings by reading this forum (when I was physically, mentally, and health-wise up to it).

Last night, for the first time in more than a year and a half, I played Descent Second Edition. A friend stopped by, and we fired up Forgotten Souls. My first ever run-through of FFG's co-op.

G-d **** did we have fun. And **** if we didn't get our asses handed to us. Lost the game in the second room. Still ...

How sweet it is to be home. How sweet it is to indulge in some of my favorite things. How sweet it is to have good friends that drop everything, and stop by to play a board game.

I have plans to have multiple friends come stay with me around mid-July. They will probably be here for several months. Our intent will be to do nothing but game all day long.

After it is over, I may need to go back into the hospital ... :P :D

Glad to have you back!

Playing all day long, nothing to worry, no boss, no work...sounds cool!

Hope you're doing well, dude. And have fun with descent!

Hope things work out for you dude.

Might have to break in some Heirs of Blood.

So good to have you back, and I feel very lucky to be able to read your regular insights again.

For the whole several months of gaming, I highly recommend a continuous soundtrack that alternates only between "Back in the Saddle" and "Back in the Saddle Again" :-)

Lol. I like this ...

I have finally gotten situated at home. You can't even begin to believe how much stuff slips through the cracks when you are gone for so long. I woke up this morning with basically nothing to do. Now my time is my own. Whooo hooo.

In the US, tomorrow is the 4th of July (Independence Day). I am going over to a friend's house at 12:00 pm (noon) PST. The plan is to drink, game, game, drink, drink, drink, game, eat, drink, eat, game, watch some stupid fireworks (I never really understood people's fascination with fireworks), drink, eat, game, wash, rinse, repeat.

I cannot wait. Unfortunately, I don't think we will be playing Descent, but looking forward to vicious games of Abyss, BAHOH, Catan, Pigs, CAH, etc.

One of the things I need to do today is to re-read the rules for some of these games. Tough to get old ...

Of course, July 6th is my birthday, and I won't be in the hospital for it. Best news EVER.

Then, on July 8th, my friends come in from out of town. They will be here for at least 2 months. Gaming every day, all day long. We will be playing massive amounts of Descent. I cannot wait.

I'm going to step in and shamelessly recommend playing "Legacy of Timmorran." That is, of course, unless you've got another campaign you're itching to play.

Oh no! I haven't even thought about adding custom campaigns to the tracker yet :P

I am assuming that Legacy of Timmorran is a Quest Vault custom quest that you created for D2e?

I will have to check it out. I think, however, that in order to refresh all of our combined memories, we will probably start out by playing some basic quests (like First Blood), just to get back into the swing of things.

Then, we will play a campaign or two.
