New character - Goblin Fanatic

By Felis, in Talisman Home Brews

Hi there!

I just got my hands on Strange Eons program and couldn't resist re-heating one of my old creations.

I made this character years ago for Talisman 2nd edition (or rather polish version of it). With just a few tweaks it should work for rev 4th ed. :)

I made this character as a joke. My friend suggested it and I took it from there.

I based it mainly on the Goblin Fanatic follower from Dragons expansion to Talisman 2nd ed. I just added toadstools for psychic combat to give him just a little chance against Spirits.

Talisman 2nd ed Adventure deck contained three Goblin Enemies, if I recall correctly, and Dungeon deck maybe four or five more. The last Special Ability wasn't that overpowered back then and the very idea of a bunch of Goblin Fanatics, high on toadstools, roaming Talisman world was hilarious. In the 4th edition there are also three Goblins in the Adventure deck but a Dungeon deck holds at least a dozen. It means that Goblin Fanatic may become pretty powerful character, providing he survives a trip to the Dungeon.

He's pretty random in combat and with Strength and Craft 1 he will die pretty often but he proved to be amusing character to play.
He's definitely my favourite :)

Graphic for the portrait was "borrowed" from one of the old issues of White Dwarf magazine. I just altered it a little. (Games Workshop please don't sue me).

Ah, an old friend reborn anew!

I'm curious - are you reffering to Goblin Fanatic or my humble person?

If the latter you must forgive me but my memory resembles this huge government warehouse at the end of "Riders of the Lost Ark" :)

Nope, just the goblin. I'd actually forgotten that one until I saw the character card.

Wow gran_risa.gif

Very nice artwork !

Did you know that there is a official Goblin fanatic character for third edition gran_risa.gif

Yup, I know, but I learned about it after I came up with this guy :)

I never actually played third edition and I knew about Fanatics from Warhammer Fantasy Battle fluff. It's from where toadstools came from.

Credit for artwork goes to the guys at White Dwarf magazine.
