What's the best worst thing that's happened to you (or an opponent)?

By Rogue Dakotan, in X-Wing

Best AND worst experience for me?

Rolling four critical hits naturally...

...with a heavy laser cannon.

I was playing against my son the other week. He had the standard tie swarm. After the initial volley, and the ships scattered, I shot at one of the ties and got a hit and a critical through his green dice. The critical he pulled was console fire. He proceeded to argue that he ought to be able to discard the card because tie fighters did not have life support systems. Therefore, no oxygen, and a fire was not possible. I conceded that he could drop that one, but draw the next.

Direct hit. Dead tie fighter.

To counter your son's perspective, Fire does not require atmosphere. It requires an oxidizing agent.

Like, say, a plasma bolt fired from a blaster.

Oxygen is not even the most efficient oxidizer :)

I had a heavily modified laetin dead to rights, target lock and a proton in the spout.

I landed on a debris field and I rolled a critical, then flipped a weapons malfunction (no shots fired when you reveal?).

I was displeased....

Trying to get a better handle on how to fly B-wings, tonight I played two matches. In the first, I moved through asteroids six times and never suffered a damage from it. In the second, I moved through debris eight times, and suffered a damage every single time.

Here's an almost self-inflicted one: at this year's Regionals, a friend and I got matched up in the third round. The match proceeded more-or-less normally for a while, until we got near the end game. At this point, with two IG-88s facing off against Corran and 2 B-wings. It was at this point that my friend made an epic mistake, K-turning Corran in front of both IG-88s, leaving him stressed and pointed in the wrong direction. On the next turn, more reasons even I cannot tell you, I chose to K-turn 88B in front of Corran, who promptly murdered the unfortunate bot. Perhaps thrown off by how helpful I was being, my friend then K-turned Corran again and put him in front of the last IG, finally ending the Game of Throws.

Worst three K-turns I have ever seen in my life.

When I first started out playing, I had my whole squadron lined up next to one another, and I figured if I gave them all the same action, they'd all end up in the exact same formation they started in.

But after giving them all Bank 2 maneuvers, each one ended up ramming into the back of the ship next to it, in some kind of grotesque Imperial Centipede.

Repent sinner thou hast angered the dice gods, you must imbibe much soda to atone!

I Once saw a friend, in a regionals, roll 4 crits naturally.... Only to have it negated by 4 natural evades... No focuses or target locks or modifiers of any kind...... What are the odds!?

Best for me and worst for my opponent...

Game 5 of this years UK nationals and currently at 3 wins 1 draw and a loss so not to bad a placing.

Queues for beer were awful and I've just got my first one of the day. My opponent has 3 Bs with FCS and 2 Zs. He blocks my Corran beautifully with a Z and sets up range 1 shots with all his other ships. Corran evaded everything while I slowly drank my beer :-) The poor dude..!

i had a great list ready to play ....Emon full of bombs, I miss judged my 3 hard to (did it to early) and had no target to bomb. The all of a sudden Kath Scarlet did a K turn and had me at range1 one from behind i.e 5 dice. my opponent rolled 5 hits and i only got blanks,

Yesterday I was running a few TIE fighters and some royal guard Interceptors against a friend's rebel list.

Through some tight maneuvering I wiped out all but one last Tycho, losing a few TIE fighters in the process.

At the last minute, his high-point Tycho started to shine with some good maneuvering, wiping out one of my interceptors and the last TIE, leaving me with one Interceptor.

He got pretty cocky about the whole "can do actions while stressed" thing, to the point that he forgot he CAN'T do red maneuvers while stressed.

He flips the dial, I remind him of the rule, I then swap his near miss of an asteroid to a direct ram into an asteroid.

Several collision rolls and criticals later, BOOM goes Tycho.

Whoopsies.

at our last team tournament (3 players/team, each with a diferent faction) Dash was dead at round 2 versus 2 IGs almost at full shields.

Corran alone managed to destroy both IGs by taking the fight into a corner (where IGs big base suffer the most) and do his dance: bump- regen shields- double tap. My opponent was in shock but took ít as a gentleman. Most epic comeback ever seen ín the store :) and was crucial to get the second win (2-1) and play the final.

'Never Give up'

- Corran Horn

Since I hate corran horn with r2-d2 so much, anytime I kill him gives me great pleasure. Of the few times I've killed him though, best has to be when I had a butt shot with scum kath with target lock, focus, and opportunist. He had kturned so no actions. It was either range 3 or through a rock as he had 4 dice. I got all 5 hits after target lock and focus, he got all blanks and evades, boom one shotted!

A Starviper+Autothrusters vs Chira in range 3:

I rolled 3 crits: 2 of them were 'Minor Explosion' which resulted in an additional hit each.

So, 5 damage @ Chira with a single attack.

Roughly 207k:1, I think.
