So yeah I don't 100% understand why the TB got a bad rap or that I hardly ever see it in BatReps because I haven't played beyond the Starter Set but I was tinkering around with a list and thought I might play around with a set up for it. I can see why, in part, they are rarely taken. Bad maneuverability, expensive points cost. Named characters don't really seem that exciting. So I looked at the Extra Munitions card, saw that it was a recent addition and even to me it looks like a really useful card. Basic lowly Scimitar Pilot doesn't really seem that pricey for what he can do. Sure he's going first and shooting last BUT he has boost to help with his movement now. The missiles, torpedoes and bombs are all pretty expensive until you add Extra Munitions to it. Flachette Torpedoes give the target a stress token just by firing at it. Cluster Missiles are nothing fancy but good if you're at range 1. Concussion Missiles enable you to auto turn over a blank for a hit. For 5pts you can get Homing Missiles that have a 4 attack range 2-3 and won't allow the target to use evade tokens. That's brutal! I was thinking of sticking him in a squad led by Juno as she's lacking some punch but the two of them blow up the point costs. No, this fine fellow belongs in a mini swarm of fresh faced academy Tie Pilots. Course put howlrunner in there and let the Bomber Pilot get some of her Swarm Tactics love and I think he might pay for himself and then some. Of Course Vader cost around the same price and well, Vader is Vader but wouldn't it be cool to break out your Bombers again with the new cards out now?

I am considering Capt Jonus, flying along 3 Scimitars, each with Extra Munitions and 2x Clusters, at 100 points total.
It packs a LOT of damage, as each scimitar is carrying 4 turns' worth of Cluster Missiles with the Jonus Bonus.... which is nutty.
Yeah I saw Captain Jonus and his special ability and thought the only way it could be useful was if someone could find a lot of ships with secondary weapons to make him worth it. I'd be interested in how that works out. I bet the Bombers and the Tie Punisher see a lot of action in games of Epic.

Yeah I was thinking though. You're gonna have to be careful with Jonus. He might be Bomber swarm's Howlrunner. With just 2 attacks each you definitely don't want to run out of missiles.
Edit: Nevermind I reread that and saw you took the extra Munitions. You know I might scale my one guy back. If I drop off some of his baggage I could outfit him with 2 x Homing Missiles. and Extra Munitions. Should be cheap and just hard enough to strip some shields off of Rebel Ships. Homing Missiles are crazy cool. No evade tokens?! But I really wanna see what the Punisher can do.

Rhymer adds one range to weapons which can be a surprise to the unwary. A squad of each with Jonas making 4 is a very good build. Don't forget that 6 hull!
I think you have too much Ordnance on that bomber. Extra Munitions will see play, but 3 different projectiles (6 if you count the EM card) is overkill. Your ship will be destroyed before you are able to launch half of those. Especially on a Scimitar with all the Predator out there, that's pretty much a free TL.
Jonus is the hero for sure. He works on both attacks for Cluster, and Concussion is arguably the best projectile in the game (as far as ordnance goes). Homing is nice against Fat Han for sure. Give him Squad Leader, and allows for TL + F shenanigans for one of your bombers.
Instead of EU, i would consider a bomb. Sure you lose some maneuverability, but you can't count out that 5K-turn. 6 Hull isn't too shabby either...

Couldn't afford a Black Squadron Pilot to soak up Howlrunner's damage but with a Bomber there I'm hoping that hits will be spread out a little more than I've seen smarter players do. The Bomber is still pricey with the Homing Missiles but I couldn't resist. B-Wings and Biggs and R2D2 scare me. I want those shields gone. I think the TIE Bomber can soften them up at range 2-3 with Missiles that don't allow Evade Tokens.
Seriously now I want to see the Tie Punisher. That would make a cool squad leader for some bombers.
I actually like Rhymer, 2x protons, dead eye. Rhymer has a decent skill, and with dead eye he can burn a focus to shoot his torpedoes, and if you line it up right, you can save a target lock to 're roll your torpedo dice.
I think I like push the limit if you don't do dead eye; you catch a dress that you have bleed off next turn, but 2 agility ships are afraid of it (at least locally!).
Also, captain Jonus is worth it, especially when the punisher drops, you can run him him next to a punisher, and re roll (2 dice I think?)
Also, extra munitions will be (I think) is going to be money with a guy like Rhymer; 2 advanced torpedoes that you can make range 2, and your only paying 8 points? Yes please.
Jonus + Determination flying with Krassis with HLC & RecSpec, along with Howlrunner. Add whatever upgrades appeal to you. It's limited in that it always need to stay in a tight formation. However, rolling 4 dice with rerolls with Krassis is always fun.
I wouldn't add more than one missile plus Extra Munitions to the generic bombers, especially if one packs Assault Missiles with Munitions Failsafe. Jonus with Squad Leader looks promising and can hang far back. Extra Munitions is really efficient as a cheap way to double ordnance,but it is a trap to think you should fill all those slots. A generic bomber with EM can take two missiles and two bombs for ~2/3 the cost of all of them stacked.

And it'll still suffer from the low PS of the Scimitar, but meh. Can't fire Clusters at R3 anyways!

Don't forget there is some unspoiled homing missle thing in the punisher too. I am very much interested in a Jonus build but I have been leaning towards proton torpedoes instead for the launcher platforms. They already get the focus crit for one and adding Jonus makes 2 more re-rolls. 3 not guranteed but heavily implied hits is pretty sexy at range 3 with no agi bonus.
I also like concussion missles for pretty much the same reason just sacrificing a crit for a straight blank hit. Even if they get into range 1 you can 3 dice your canon at that distance, good times.
edit:Just had a side thought, I don't know if the engines upgrade will save bombers but what I would love to see for them is a title for 0 cost that gives them deadeye. Can you imagine the havok 4 scimitars could cause shooting with focus and being able to burn tl's to re-roll. Sounds pretty sweet to me and at 24 unshielded hp's could live long enough to smash some faces.
