DH-17 blaster pistol stats

By Mnemonaut, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

I'd say, Age of Rebellion Core Rulebook page 174.

You're right. I'm blind. But how would you handle the (RAW non-existing) auto-fire capabilities of the DH-17?

It is said in Wookieepedia that the auto-fire capability of the DL-17 drains the power cell fast. So we could add the Auto fire quality, then the following flaw: when the autofire quality is used, the GM may spend two threats to make the DL-17 run out of ammunitions.

Sounds like the BlasTech SE-14r (Dangerous Covenants, p. 43), just a little bit weaker. I absolutely like it.

I'd be careful about that, giving auto-fire on a weapon that easy to get is a bad idea. There's a reason things like the SE-14r are illegal, rarity 6, and 1,000 credits.

If you really want to do it, Wookieepedia left out that the auto-fire option is not a stock quality of the DH-17, it's a dangerous mod that totally fries the weapon. A better solution more in line with the earlier material (SET Sourcebook) would be: Make a Hard Mechanics check to give the weapon the auto-fire quality. It may only be fired in auto-fire mode, and the GM may use 2 Threat to destroy the weapon. There were other effects, but they don't really translate well...

If you want your game to work, it's unwise to take wookieepedia at face value. It's a good source for basic info, but it has a bad habit of misjudging scale, overstating capability, misattributing information, and making every weapon, starship, and device sound like the second coming of the chosen one.

You were supposed to balance the game, not break it!

Perhaps give them the ability to use Auto-fire, but then may sunder the weapon for every two threats. I don't see destroying the weapon as ideal, especially since in the newer Star Wars Battlefront the weapon is only Auto-Fire. (I know video-games are not good benchmarks) but the overheat of the weapon is quite fast. It could also be argued that "Frying the Battery Cell," refers to what Fantasy Flight calls, "Running out of ammo," since some weapons use battery cells, rather than ammo.

Typo.

Another option, published since this thread discussion in 2015, is the DH-17 Blaster Carbine in Forged in Battle, which has auto-fire.
