Or Vader's Temper

I guess you can always run Predator if you didn't care about initiative. Not sure you'll get much use out of LW.

LW + 4 ship build = waste of 2 points

definitely go predator or outmanuever

Since Vader is the closer, LW makes sense as long as you can keep him alive until all the Tempests are gone and then it ensures Vader is a tough bugger to finish off. However, since it won't get much use early on, his damage output will be less which could be a problem if the tempests aren't able to pull their weight before biting it...

Your opponent is going for Vader. Unless you keep Vader out of combat until after the Tie Advances are dead. Probably not a good strategy though.

With 2 actions and options to boost, barrel roll, evade + focus, he's not easy to take down (especially at PS9). compare that to the tempests who are going to be in front and with only a focus or evade to protect them and they are much more attractive targets, not to mention they can block and/or deal decent range 1 damage, so it might not be easy to bag Vader early on even if you want to. Not saying its impossible, but the list is built and can be flown in a way that Vader can contribute without being an easy target, but he probably can't be used as a flanker and therefore no lone wolf...

To be honest I was thinking of flanking with Vader ... but ill try predator or outmanoeuvre thanks for the feed back

If planning to flank with him, outmaneuver is a good buy.

Accuracy Corrector-equipped Advanceds are decent medium fighters, and should do fairly well.

The one other option I keep meaning to try is a proton rocket/sensor jammer combination - something that should survive long enough to make a very powerful close-ranged attack run.

think ill keep the tempests how they are and try Vader out in a few different configs ...

with 3 green die and an evade every turn they will be hard to take down quick and a guarantee 2 hits every time they shoot that should annoy a few people.
then to get Vader set up for my style of play best

Some Vader ideas I've been thinking of:

Closer Vader: title, ATC, lone wolf, engine (add proton rockets if you got points to spare) = 36/39

Hunter/killer Vader: title, ATC predator, engine and proton rockets = 40

Tank Vader: title, ATC, lone wolf, stealth = 35

Support Vader: title, sensor jammer & squad leader = 31

Rogue Vader: title, accuracy corrector, outmanoeuvre, engine and cluster missiles = 40

Needless to say, I REALLY like the new title and it certainly does A LOT for Vader. Can't wait to put him on the table! Its also nice that Imperials FINALLY have a nice filler ship in the 21-23 range that's got some manoeuveribility and isn't a glass cannon. Before it was only shuttle (which really wants to be 23+ because a naked shuttle is kinda useless) or an alpha interceptor w/ autothrusters which is still a bit squishy even for 20 pts...

Tank Vader, Close Vader, and Support vader all work well in that list

Love the title. Accuracy corrector is (to me) worth it on the x/1s.

For Vader, push the limit, ATC, engine upgrade makes him a slippery arc dodging git, but he has to slow to bleed his stress. But you could keep him out of trouble until it's closing time

push the limits on vader isn't alwasy that easy

I'm looking forward to this list as well!

I tried the Vader part of this build earlier tonight. I really blew it, was just not on my game. One big mistake was K-Turning Vader. I didn't have engine upgrade on him, and the TIE Advanced is so limited in it's green maneuvers that his next move was easy to predict. I'm definitely going to practice more with him, and always add that engine upgrade.

I also want to try 4 Tempests with TIE/x1, Accuracy Corrector, and Shield Upgrade. I am a little worried the 2 hits from the tempest squadron will be easy to avoid for for agile opponents, plus vulnerable to arc dodging, but we'll see how it goes.

fly as a mini swarm and keep your arcs covered

4 accuracy tempest with cluster missiles I think is stronger than shield---8 shots that deal 2 damage each is nothing to sneeze at. The trick of course is grabbing TL and not losing a ship before it gets its missile off, but even if that happened, your remaining 3 should be able to get revenge...

I have been working on a few other list ideas as well with these guys will post them soon

That's nice! Now I'm thinking that Proton rockets with munitions failsafe might be the approach I try. 5 attack dice with focus to punch through the more agile targets that can dodge 2 hits.

Its not so easy to get into range 1 of a higher PS ship (especially if its got push the limit). The advantage of cluster missiles is that even with lots of agility, the dice will fail eventually and you only need 3 points to get through. You can facillitate your shots by using one of your tempests as a blocker too (no tokens means even 4 greens will crap out against a steady stream of 2 hits...)

Also something to keep in mind: Carnor Jax completely hard counters proton rockets (although in your area, no one may use him...)

I think Carnor Jax is one of the most under used pilots ......
