Corellian Command Ship

By ArcaneSpringbrd, in Star Wars: Armada

I really hope we see the Corellian Command Ship seen in Star Wars Rebels for Armada.

Images? My Google search turned up a bewildering array of ships and I'm not sure which one is the CCS.

Star Wars: Rebels is part of new canon so there's good reason to hope.

so basically a super 'vete

As long as it being a ship from The Clone Wars Cartoon doesn't hurt its chances. You saw the Republic using them as medical and carrgo ships mainly but it doesn't surprise me that they either had a combat variant or could be modified for combat easily. Hell the form in the Saga edition was a very good escort and decent anti cap ship vessel for its era and size. It had more anti fighter weapons then the Neb-B but lighter turbos, and weaker shields.

Looks like a modified CR90

The Databank identifies it as a KDY Pelta class Frigate

Heh, could be a Corvette with 5 hull instead of four, and a better engineering/squadron command

Looks like a modified CR90

Except for being 4 times the size of the cr-90s next to it.

It is in the foreground so perspective makes it look a bit bigger compared to them. After watching the episode I'd say it is about double their size if that.

I guess the new cannon is throwing A-Wings as a creation of Jan Dodonna post Yavin right out the window. Which I don't mind, but then why didn't they have any at Yavin...

Back to the thread, isn't the tantive 4 with raymus already a correllian command ship? :D

Well according to Legends its a little less then double their length so you're right if the legends size is accurate to canon.

That is a very good question. It seems it would have been simpler to have equipped the Rebels with older ships such as Z-95s or Y-Wings (both of which appeared in The Clone Wars), thus avoiding the problem of why aren't A-wings/B-wings in ANH or ESB if they are in Rebels. But I suppose, that is hope, Filoni has a good reason for this change. Maybe it's to establish that the X-wing is really the newest of all of the rebel ships, thus explaining why the characters are still flying them 30 years later in The Force Awakens?

By the way, the new databank entry claims the A-wings in ROTJ are newer, modified versions of the earlier version seen in Rebels. I assume the B-wing entry will say something similar once they appear in Rebels Season 2 too.

AFAIK there is no proof that the A-Wings, B-Wings, or even the Y-Wings aren't going to appear in the ST however.

Sure, but so far all we've seen are newer versions of the old X-Wings and Tie Fighters we first got in ANH. But there's no sign, so far, of the "newer" ships of the OT, namely the ones that didn't show up until ROTJ: A-wings, B-wings, and Tie Interceptors. My guess is we won't see them because J.J. is seemingly doing everything he can to link the new movie back to the most recognizable parts of the OT.

We've seen only a few minutes though so there's no proof there aren't other fighter models in use by either side. Also we see MC80 in the trailer or at least some model of Mon Cal cruiser I believe and those were first seen in ROTJ. And in the OT the good side always used multiple visually distinct fighter models.

Are we sure they are A-Wings?

They are never called A-Wings in the episode. Yeah they probably are, but it would be a nice nod to the fans if they did mention them being R-22's

Taken out by a Single TIE Advanced. Flown by a Sith Lord, but still...yeesh.

The Databank identifies them as A-Wings but also mentions that the ones used at Endor were a newer model of A-Wing modified for higher speed.

Well in all fairness the Pelta does have pretty crappy defenses for its size based on its Saga stats and Vader is probably loaded with tricks to boost his damage output.
