So I'm super curious to hear your guy's thoughts/ wishlist on:

1) whether or not you would want the New Republic/ Resistance and First Order featured in the upcoming Episode 7 to be their own factions or supplements to the Rebel Alliance and Empire factions?

2) what you would be most excited to see from the movies/ that era from what we've seen from released footage or from the EU/Legends?

Personally, I've always been a huge fan of the more edgy/uniform look of Empire capital ships and the more "fightery"(?) look of Rebels starfighters (particularly the X-Wing).The New Republic seemed to have awesome options to build that sort of fleet. Nebula - class Star Destroyers and Endurance - class Carriers with the new T-70 X-Wings (which I personally love)? YES PLEASE!

Could be as simple as the breakup of the Roman Empire, with all sorts of small countries fighting each other over the scraps.

Fair enough. I guess I could have been more clear in my original post. I was shooting more for people's "wish lists" from what we've seen and EU/Legends content as opposed to statements of what will happen, since obviously we will have to wait and see.

Maybe not with the first movie but I can see the pressure of the subsequent movies leading to the two factions. You'd only need to do a small box set to have different variations of the capital ships they used or faction specific cards (think scum box in X-wing).

Sorry if I wasn't clear. I am 100% confident we will see sequel and Anthology ships in Armada.

I don't know if the post ROTJ requires new factions.

Keep in mind Star Wars makes its money selling toys. These are little plastic toys targets to middle aged (ish) men.

I wish for arc 170s and acclimator class, venator class and Ets 2 Actis class interceptors and Delta 7s

i hope they put the prequel stuff as separate factions. so there are 4 total, it would cut down on the mirror matches

Another option would be to do a Scum & Villainy faction, a la X-Wing. I doubt that FFG will do pre-OT ships, since they've said that they are focusing on the Civil War era.

I think some of the New Republic era EU/Legends ship models will become canon I'm just not sure if they'll be in the movies. Look how many of the lesser known EU/Legends designs have been made canon by the new novels.

Whatever happens, as long as the Interdictor-class becomes a thing (Black Asp title pls) then all will be well.

Wouldn't turn my nose up at a third faction at all - Mandalorians please! Keldabe-class Battleship, Vengeance Cruisers, Interceptor Frigates...etc etc.

Well the Immoblizer class Interdictor Cruiser is canon so that's a good sign for it showing up IMO. In fact pretty much every pre-Endor Galactic Civil War era and the one Clone Wars era Interdictor model that I know of has been made canon.

You mean Vengeance Frigates don't you or is there another Vengeance class besides the Frigates and Star Destroyers that I forgot?

Although I know what you mean with the change of legends and the EU, a lot of the EU stuff is still relevant and will no doubt turn up in background pieces, maybe these ships will who knows.
