State of the Dial: Wave 6

By DraconPyrothayan, in X-Wing

So. Back in Wave 3, I evaluated every dial in the game at the time, to generate the "Average" dial (by using the most common number of each bearing, in their most common speeds, and applying the same logic to coloration).

Interestingly, at the time it was evenly split between the X-Wing and the Firespray-31, as an even number of ships had 2 Koiograns as had 1.

That being said, we now have a LOT more ships. To that end, I'm going to split my work up, and produce:

1 Large Ship: Gestalt

Two turns, with 1 and 3 being equally likely, but all are White.

All Banks, with the 1 in Green and the 2 and 3 in White

The 1-4 Forwards, with the 1 and 2 in Green, and the 3 and 4 in White.

A three-way tie in numbers of Koiograns

2 ships with no Koiograns, 2 ships with the 4 K, and 2 ships with the 3-4 K, and all are Red.

Small Ship: Gestalt

The 2 and 3 turns, in White.

All Banks, the 2 Green, the 1 and 3 in White

The 1-4 Forwards, with 1-2 in Green, and 3-4 in White

The 4 Koiogran, in Red

Notably, this dial doesn't yet exist.

1 Small Ship (Rebel)

Tied between the Faction Independent and the X-Wing

Difference is purely in where the single Green Bank lies.

1 Small Ship (Imperial)

All Turns, in White

Even Split both on the number of Banks and the number of Koiograns.

The three with Three Banks all have One Koiogran

The three with Two Banks all have Two Koiograns

The 3k, 4k, and 5k are evenly distributed amongst these three.

The 2-5 Forwards, with 2-3 in Green and 4-5 in White

1 Small Ship (Villainy)

Even Split both on the Turn Speeds and on the number of Koigrans

The Two Turns can either be 1 and 2, or 2 and 3.

The latter half has One Koiogran, while the former half has outliers

The Two Koiograns can either be None or One

The former half has a Turn Outlier, and the latter half has 2 and 3 turns

The likeliest single Koiogran is evenly split between 3 and 4.

So, things are a bit of a mess right now, lol.

Hopefully, Wave 7 will be able to supply some tiebreakers in the even splits of above, and possibly supply the ship with the Gestalt dial.

However, from this, we can mark deviation from the "Norm" of the faction, or from the "Norm" of the gestalt.

I sort of like the fact that they keeping each dial distinctive and unique. It gives each ship a different handling to it.

Take the Kihazx fighter. It might seem like an X-wing at first with the 3 fire power 2 agility and 5 hitpoints but I assume when people try to fly it like an X-wing they will often find themselves often out of position and not very effective with it. Now those who fly it like a TIE fighter w/o barrel roll on the other hand will find it extremely useful.

Indeed. Giving each dial a different 'feel' is something of an art form. I suspect the Kihahkahkahkahk will really miss the speed 1 straight if you try and fly it like a medium/heavy fighter; I know it's the biggest weak spot with a TIE swarm if you try to joust.

That being said, as a cheaper X-wing that flies like a TIE Fighter. Will we ever see Rookie pilots again?
