Ive just ordered my first sets and cant wait to get started. I live in Watford, Hertfordshire, UK. Are there any shops in or around this area that run gaming events?

It's a bit of a journey from Watford, but Lost Ark in Stevenage host regular tournaments (seems to be about once every two months and usually on Saturdays) and have a few players on a Monday night between 6pm and 10pm (£3 on the door to play). I've just started playing myself, so not got along to the Monday night, but I did attend the tournament on Saturday. Have a look at my Battle Report to give you a flavour of what went on and see if you might be interested in coming up.

Warlords in St Albans runs x-wing sometimes. Watford Warhammer used to when I was there last, but I haven't been in a while.

Dark Sphere in Central London have a very big scene. You can take the train straight from Watford into London Euston, then hop on the underground to Lambeth North.

Thanks, I'm not far from Hitchin so this place seems like it could be ideal. I may venture there for a look in the shop and maybe a Monday night. Doubt I'll be good enough for tournament play! However I'll give it a go?

Never heard of warlords in St.albans. Generally is x-wing considered a niche game?

How many tables does Lost Ark fit? Would like to check them out, but went to one place once, and they only had 3 tables.

There are two rooms at Lost Ark. The main room probably has about 12 3x3 tables in total. Not all were being used for X-Wing, as there were only 11 of us. Then there is a side room that would probably fit another 4 or so, but that tends to be used by other game types. So it's much larger than wherever you checked out previously.

I may be able to venture down there on a Monday night soon, provided I don't need to work. Got a couple of builds I'm looking to try out!

The next tournament is on the 8/8, I think I'll be heading there to take part. Might squeeze in a Monday night soon as well. I've played like 3 games against friends as no one is ever about, so I am a complete amateur. So will probably just be fodder for folks I play. Still though, will be good to get some games under the belt rather than just have them sat in storage cases!

Well killing a ship is a good start! That's what we me and my son set out to do in our first tournament!

Good games on Saturday, 20 players and 10 tables. Plenty of fun was had. Will be heading there for standard game night on the 10/8 for some more casual playing. 6pm to 10pm.

Yeah, other than being swelteringly hot it was a really fun tournament. I lost my first two games, then won three straight after lunch to finish sixth and bag the second Defender I've always fancied but have never been able to justify buying.
