Here in SoCal, Falcons and RACFel are the main metagame to build against. Dual IGs and 4BZ are also prominent, but it's mainly Birds and RACFel's.

Tycho doesn't give a **** about stress, so sending him after RAC is ideal. Jake can swat a Soontir, and the GSP is the extra jab for tàking things down. Prockets lets me fling 5 dice at things while VI helps me get into range 1. PtL and Autos are the no-brainers, and 96 points should undercut pretty much every list for initiative.

I know A-Wings are at a disadvantage in comparison to Interceptors, but A's have better pilot abilities.

Thanks for any feedback! :D

After your Alpha strike, not many attack dice... You may win on points a few times, but i think theres not enough punch.

That's what I'm worried about, too.

I figured some really good piloting will put me at R1 of things often enough to get 3-dice attacks in. Ill probably be abusing the hell out of MOV though.

if youre at 96 points why not try...

tycho+title+PTL+Daredevil (way fun or give him LW)+procks+AT=37 (or 36 with LW)

Jake+title+procks+PTL+predator (helps with attacks after alpha strike or can go with outmanuver+AT=35

Green+title+PTL+Vprocks+AT=28

still not ultra competitive but i think it ups the fun factor

Since you have to get in Range 1 to fire your Prockets, what would you think about using Gemmer Sojan (22) instead of a Green Pilot?

You lose the Calculation, but gain an agility when you are in close and move to PS5 instead of PS3. Total Squad cost is 98, which still typically should get you initiative.

If you can keep Gemmer close you would be rolling 3 attack dice with 4 defense and the ability to turtle up.

At PS3, the Green may be required to use that focus for defense, which would negate the the Calculation upgrade.

I agree that the build is fragile, but I like A-Wings too. I only own 2 right now, but I'd like to get a few more to either try the 3 ship build or even run a 4 or 5 ship build.

Outmaneuver on the Green might be good instead of Calculation. Or even Predator + Opportunist. You have the points for it. That could potentially be a 6 dice Procket

If it were me (and I run a lot of A lists), I would dump the prockets for chardaan refit on all of them. Switch the PTL for Predator on the green squad and add a second Green squad pilot built the same way. You may have to dump PTL on Jake to make it work numbers wise, but with the free action from focus, he can stand it more than Tycho. I think Predator is better than PTL on low PS ships as they wind up blocking more.

A lot of people like missiles on A-wings. I do not. Unless you know that you will be fighting nothing but fat turrets, you are giving up 5 points per ship (for prockets at least) for something that works once at range 1 (prockets again).

What do you do for you second shot after you stuck yourself in a prone position just to unload your ordinance? One of them is going to get fried; two of them with cold dice and an opponent who can fly well. I would personally rather have an extra ship.

I admit prockets are tempting, especially on A wings, but you can hang a pocket on a X95 for 15 points (one less red die) rather than 20 for the A. That is 6 ships of 2 PS Z with room for munitions failsafe and other stuff versus 5 naked 1 PS A's at 100 points.

Before you ask, or someone points it out, my A wing win loss record is far from stellar. Take it with a grain of salt.

A lot of the Soontir lists are sitting at 97 points, currently. The ability to forfeit initiative so that Soontir moves first is one of my metagaming strategies. Also goes with the PS bid with VI over Predator and Outmaneuver. As much as I like both of those EPTs, I still think bidding for initiative and PS is more important than offensive modifiers.

As for refit over Prockets, the ability to Alpha on a given turn gives the list that punch it needs to be remotely close to the red output on Interceptors. Even dropping the rockets for another GSP wouldn't make the list more lethal, I've played 5 GSP PtL swarm before, didn't really do well against anything. At least the rockets can potentially one-shot something.

I like Gemmer and I think he would be a good fit, but then the list gets higher up to 98 points, unless I don't load him up with missiles. Maybe I could do VI instead of Calc on the GSP?
