Is triple Dagger B-wings, with HLC and FCS competitive? Or just for fun?

It should be.
If you have one key weakness, it's arc dodgers - without advanced sensors, your agility is limited as you have to deal with a B-wing's wonderful dial unmitigated, and this is somewhat magnified by having only three arcs of fire, not four, and having a lower pilot skill.
If you can keep anything in arc of the squad for a couple of turns, you should blow it to smithereens, though.
Essentially, it boils down to how good you are at flying purely using a ship's dial, not boosts, pre-move barrel rolls, etc. If you can cope with that, you've got one of the best pure firepower squads in the game.
you could put mangler cannon one one dagger and HLCs on the other two freeing u up the points to play adv. sensors on all 3. 99pts. mangler should help put crits on those big ships once the shields have been stripped ![]()
Going to a small laid-back tournament, and don't know if to bring:
3 x Dagger B-wings, with HLC & FCS
or
4 x Blue B-wings, with E2 & Tactician
or the classic
BBBBZ
???
2PS ships get wrecked by predator, seriously that card is nasty vs Blue Squadron Pilots, its essentially a free target lock against you ![]()
going with Daggers makes ur fleet predator proof ![]()
But still ... I have had great succes with BBBBZ in recent tournaments - don't know if I can "trust" 3 x Daggers ![]()
I wouldn't trust the relative squishiness of 3 Bs, personally
would rather take 4 with fcs
(room for 2 daggers, or 2 int agents)
It is both depending on who you are up against
During the June 6th Regional at the Game Cafe in Independence, MO, I took this squadron to a record of 3-3 and placed 29th out of 66. With more experience (being that I only have about 3 months of playing under my belt), I may have been able to do better (or possibly worse). I feel that it was a competitive build, but had it's weaknesses.
It is both depending on who you are up against
Really no way to know ... as it is a tournament

any list you make can be a killer or a flop depending on who you get .....
The idea of a BBB list intrigued me, here is my (rubbish) initial attempt:

The thinking is that I'd be able to get them all into position before the swarms blocked me off with the enhanced scopes and stress tokens would be less of a problem because I'd get some kind of benefit from them with Ibtisam and Keyan. Ran out of points with Ten Numb, the Nein and Ten combination was very tempting.
But as people have said above, you'd have to hope the dice are your friends in the first couple of combat turns or it could all turn south very quickly...

I got a 2nd place at a Store championship with this exact list, losing only to Soontir/Turr/Dark Curse/Ap as I simply could not keep the Ints in arc.
It's a most intimidating list, especially vs 2 ships builds and large, fat, low agi ones.
And it's also pretty fun and not to difficult to fly
The problem with BBB is that it's not tough like BBBB. The HLC/FCS has nightmarish firepower, but no mobility and mediocre durability. Against some lists, the firepower will carry you through, against others, it's not enough. Swapping one HLC out for something a little quicker and more versatile might be better overall.
Went to a laid-back fun tournament yesterday, with the BBBBZ list - and went to 6th out of 16 players.
Played against a classic TIE swarm with a training wheels Soontir; no trouble there.
Played against Fat Chewbacca, with Bandit, Bandit and Bwing; chewed my way through them but it took some time, and the game went to time, and it ended with crippled Chewbacca alone against three of my Bs.
Played against a TIE mini swarm with a Firespray; no trouble there.
Last game was against 4 A-wings kitted out with PTL, Autothrusters and Outmaneuver ... which was a b**** to played against! The A-wing danced around my B-wings all game long - and it went to time - both sides with one ship down.
Conclusion! A-wing is my new hate-to-play-against-ship!!!
Edited by NikolishinI always get the feeling that a 3 ship build is missing that 4th ship. Maybe it's OCD on my part but I'd rather have that 4th ship. Run 4 Blues or 2 and 2 Daggers and Blues.
