So, I picked up a pair of core sets to bring along to my weekly 40k game, and we ended up playing X-Wing all day instead. Now, all the guys that are usually scraping pennies for the latest GW $40 release are instead rapidly filling out lists with these awesome miniatures and strategizing for our next session.
Me? I LOVE TIE fighters.
I get that they're mostly identical and interchangeable, but my wargaming bug requires me to personalize everything, so I decided to go with some simple squadron markings that don't detract too much from the uniform appearance of a group of TIEs.
With that, I give you the roughly repainted beginnings of Cobalt Squadron or "The Blue Stripes"

I need to go back over them and correct a few sloppy bits. Two new TIE interceptors, an Advanced, and a Bomber come Monday.
New to X-Wing, immediately wanted to repaint my TIE fighters.
I like these - like the battle damage on the middle pic too. Top job dude ![]()

Thanks!
That damage wasn't originally featured but... after the first few games that particular TIE had clipped enough asteroids to warrant a little wing damage for his idiotic trouble.
Cute ships.

I love the squadron you made. What color paint did you use for this project - it is great looking! Also, did you use paint or air brush? I'm looking forward to you doing the other TIE series ships in this scheme.
