The idea is to keep biggs alive as long as possible with the academys in close formation and Porkens drawing off critical hits and repairing them with extra Focus tokens. The two rookiee are the main damage dealers, as they can TL/focus offensively rather than reserving focus for defence (biggs) or regen (Porkens)

Heavy lasers are biggs nightmare- high damage and no crits to pass off to his escort. Make sure you target lock the heavy laser platform if possible, because R7 is your only line of defence.

Why not R4D6 on Biggs? Its basically the anti-HLC Droid.

You'd have enough points then to upgrade Porkins to Luke.

I ran a similar squadron in the last local tournament here and got third place. I had the following setup, if I remember correctly:

Biggs with R2-F2 and stealth

Rookie

Rookie

Garven

The asteroid setup is extremely important. Get Biggs on range three behind one and you have 5 greens. Garven focuses, and spends it and gives it to Biggs.

Pretty strong, unless you have really bad luck.

Porkins + R5-P9???
That's weird.

Now, I love R5-P9, don't get me wrong.
However, Porkins' pilot ability works at odds with shield regeneration, even when that regen comes with DTF.

Oh wait, you're using him purely because he's the cheapest pilot with an Elite Talent and Astromech slot. Coolio.

Just played a Vassal game vs Echo, Shadow squad, and Lt Lorrir

Thanks to a short range 5 dice wiff against porkens (1 hit, which he evaded) and a few lucky range 3 hits of my own, I managed to win without losing a single Xwing... despite Biggs repeatedly failing to do anyting with R7 OR defense dice. And he never rolled a crit where I could Draw Fire.

2.) What about Garven instead of Porkins? Maybe instead of R5-P9 you could do the one that gives you an EPT and use that for DtF. I'm thinking you could have Biggs target lock defensively, and then have garven roll up and hand him a focus for defense. Maybe VI'ing Garven up to PS 8 would be better, that way he'll have a higher chance of shooting first and giving a focus to Biggs.

Blue Squadron B Wing. Sorry about the B Wing but with only 22 points left it's better than a rookie with a one point Droid. Garven doesn't need to be used exclusively for buffing Biggs' defense, he'll end up giving a ship a focus for a TL+Focus combo.

The issue with the EPT droid is that he takes the droid slot.

Porkens is there to keep biggs alive, but I dont want him killing himself to do it. with how I have him set up, he can draw off crits and take them on his shields, then regenerate the lost shields. The enemy HAS to attack biggs, because biggs, but Porkens is basically acting like a second astromech slot (and gun) for biggs, letting him take more damage than he could possibly otherwise.

Another approach might be to replace a rookiee pilot with Airen Cracken. biggs focuses, Airen attacks and gives Biggs a target lock on an enemy, Piggy focuses to charge his astromech, Bigs gets shot, rerolls the attack, rolls defence, and passes a crit to a regenerator.
