Dace and the Boneheads.

So I just got into S&V. Have a HWK, MW, Scyk mad 2 SV to play with. Came up with a pretty straight forward list hence the name.

Several things I wonder about..

Lots of points on a HWK! General idea was that he could build up a focus stack pre engagement and then be able to boost for position without resorting to naked dice. I'm unsure about predator though. Perhaps VI would be better?

The Y wing maybe not worth the higher PS but with the title at least generics will find it harder to dodge his arc. The second Ion is to give options when triggering Dace ability but the more I think about it, switching to Blaster turret with R4 Argo in place of the Unhinged might be more potent?

The missiles on the Z's. Just spending points really but would give the Z's a nasty bite before they get taken out and encourage opponent to not just ignore them iin favour of Dace.

Here's 2 list ideas following along your theme that might be a bit more potent:

Dace w/ determination, ion turret & K4 droid = 32

Kavil w/ predator, blaster turret & unhinged droid = 32

So lead with the z-95's and since your opponent really wants to kill the Hawk & y-wing first, the binayres should be able to get off some good range 1 shots (3 attack dice and they are not bad). You should also use one as blocker to deny your first target an action and then focus fire it to death. K4 is a natural fit on Dace due to the fact that Dace will be taking stress every time he shoots his ion, and so you will mostly be doing green moves to clear that stress. Kavil doesn't have to worry about 3 hard turns denying his own shot (because he can still take the necessary focus to shoot his blaster) and with predator, he at least gets to re-roll a die (sometimes 2) on every attack with his 4 die blaster turret (as long as you're not facing your target).

This list drops down to 4 ships but gives you two beefy star vipers with their 3 dice attacks means you have more meaningful punch against high agility targets. They are also excellent blockers with boost/barrel roll (if you need to use one to block, its nice because you're remaining ships should be able to really deal some serious damage if they have shots). The starviper dial is also excellent for furballs, so if your opponent gets jammed up they can really take advantage with their segnor's loops or hard 1 turns (as appropriate) to get in a flanking/following position on the enemey.
