Nasty Gladiator (Demolisher) combo.

By Lyraeus, in Star Wars: Armada

So I don't check out the fleet section ever so I am not sure if this has come up before.

In the Percision Strike objective you get points for flipping cards face up. Now Screed let's you create a crit from any die so you can get a hit and crit in a black dice. So that let's you use the hit to flip a damage card.

Now the combo is using the demolisher to ram (possibly double ram with engine techs) and then shooting with the side arc (front arc with Enhanced Launchers) and using Screed to new you a hit and crit.

The hits can be used to flip the ram damage (or both). Thoughts?

I'm unclear as to your intent - are you wanting to spend just the hit from a hitcrit die to activate the face up ability? If so, I'm afraid you're out of luck, as Precision Strike specifies that you spend the die (so you would lose both the hit and the crit).

Still, I'm seeing a related combo for Precision Strike with Assault Concussion Missiles (which is common on Gladiators): Use the crit to activate ACM, gaining an extra 2 points of damage, then spend a die that's only rolled a single hit in order to flip a damage card up and score VPs

The point is that you can ram and the get victory points from the ram

Ah, so corvettes with engine techs then?

Ah, I see how you mean now. In that case, I see no reason why it wouldn't work, although I wouldn't consider Screed to be a particularly good pairing for it due to the requirements to spend dice starting to add up. I'd also be very wary of self-inflicted damage to the Demolisher, as in my experience it get's primaried very quickly, and needs all the hull points it has just to survive.

Including the GSD though

If your ramming someone, next match they will just take some B-wings and be like "problem?"

2-3 b-wings is like a front arc of a victory 1, but you can't brace it, because the damage comes in piecemeal, nuitering defensive tokens.

If anyone finds a nasty combo for rebels let me know.....seems all I read anymore is empire this empire that....sometimes I feel that rebels got delt the short straw on this game.... Let the flaming and groaning begin....

1. In almost all cases I would rather do the Hull damage than waste (spend) it on a flip...extra VPs or not. Neat find. But I just want Max dmg to enemy ships and Minimum to mine.

2. Screed's ability is usable only once per activation.

3. What's that, like an 85pts GSD?

84 with a liason actually. So 81 as the cheapest version.

Gladiator I-Class Star Destroyer (84pts)

Assault Concussion Missiles (7pts),

Defense Liason (3pts),

Engine Techs (8pts),

•Demolisher (10pts)

I like the extra damage because ACMs don't allow for you to deal face up damage cards so if you are rolling 4 black dice after that ram and get a hit, hit, blank, hit/crit you could Screed the blank into a hit/crit (losing a die in the process) and sacrifice the last hit to flip the rimmed damage up. Thus allowing you to get victory points, possibly killing a shield facing, dealing more damage, hurting defense tokens that they can't spend yet, etc. I don't see a downside to foregoing 1 damage for this capability. Even if it does hurt me a little.

Screed can be used once per ship activation but you decide what attack it does so. Black dice have a damage output of 1 each roll (hit/crits even out the blanks) Reds have slightly less (.75 I think)

Rebels have fun combos though, Salvation and Hyperspace Assault. . . Intel sweeps, the Nebulon-B Sashay, etc

Right now a lot of combos are with the Neb B and either Yavaris or Salvation titles. X17 Turbolasers, and my personal fave...Intel Officer. The BWing has been making the rounds in recent posts, and it seems to be gaining ground on hurting the hell out of the Gladiator. The Rebs didn't get shorted, but they are most definitely not an easy playstyle. They cannot go hammer for hammer with the Imps. Wave 2 may change things a little with broadsides and Ackbar, but since we are always outgunned...yeah.

It's not flaming and groaning. Others have noticed too. The other fact is that a lot of synergy exists for the Imperial faction. A LOT. They are the Empire after all.

Rebels have the Assault Frigate, arguably the best ship in the game at the moment. It also responds to upgrades quite well.

aye it's definitely being a rebel player. I do see the strength in B-Wings, they are expensive but highly effective. Nebulon B's do pack a punch ,especially Salvation. To me it seems that wave one acts like its trying to premier the Nebulon B as the real heavy hitters of the rebels thus far just it being wave one. And I do like the Nebulon B, I wish I had more.

It gets frustrating when the empire has all the synergy with fighters and the Gladiator.

The Nebulon and titles and some objectives are our I guess you can say combos in the game so far. It sucks in not seeing so many reble players getting hyped up because they had a win against the empire.

I don't know what is is about the rebels that playing a game with them feels like you should be running more than trying to fight... Maybe wave two will throw a bone to the rebels. I don't know.. I only picked rebels because I didn't want to be another cog in a large imperial player area. I wanted to be unique. I didn't want to be playing mirror matches with other imperial players because that's just boring.

Not many rebel players in my area and I like that.
