Any advantage to multiple of the "generic" troops?

I'm new to this game.... Any advantage to multiple of the "generic" troops?

Like:

  • Rebel Saboteurs
  • Rebel Troopers
  • Royal Guard Champion

Thanks in advance!

The Royal Guard Champion isn't generic. But I have doubles of the Troopers and triples of the Saboteurs; really increases your flexibility for skirmish games. I don't play competitively, just with my wife and my mates, but I think those boxes are worth buying more than one of.

The only reason you would buy more trooper packs is because you want to have more of those types of units for Skirmish. In the rules you can have up to 4 "Regular" and 2 "Elite" deployment cards of the same type. Buying more packs does not have any benefit for campaign play though.

Note that if you ever wanted to play in an official tournament, you would need deployment cards and figures for whatever you field. For example, a popular tournament list right now has anywhere from 2-4 Rebel Saboteurs. Those guys would have had to buy multiple packs.

Note: Unique figures, like Royal Guard Champion, or IG88 can only be fielded once in any army, so no point in having multiples of those.

Thank you both!

Hi. I just bought three sets of rebel troopers. For skirmish and tournament play, are all the cards suppose to be added into the collection of cards, or just the one set and the other sets tossed out? I can't seem to find anything regarding how to handle multiple troops with the exception of unique names. Thanks for any clarification on this. I'm new to playing this game.

You will need all the deployment cards they come with well I guess only 2 of the elite troopers as that is the limit for skirmish.

As for command cards you only really need the cards from one of the sets as each set comes with the max amount of each card you can use in a game. I wouldn't toss the extras though as they are valuable. I'm sure you could sell some of them one off like renforcments for example. Or save them in case you lose a card or two.

I was thinking that was the case, but wasn't 100% sure. So I put everything off to the side with the exception of the deployment cards. Thanks Tromsicle.
