Redirect and Assault Concussion Missiles

By rowdyoctopus, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

We need a FAQ by FFG on attacking steps. Last night again, people argued that ACMs happen automatically after dice rolls and before defense tokens. I need something to print off that shows them they are wrong. Im not going to argue rules during any tournament.

It's not by FFG but it lays out each step of the attack sequence from the RRG...

You need to some how make note of the FAQ here however. P2 has that if you spend a concentrate fire token and command they have to spent at the same time, but are then used as individual effects. Which while you can roll, add, spend, and use upgrade cards to manipulate dice how you like in step 2, this somewhat miscommunicating the part about having to spend the dial and token at the same time.

Which gets all the more eye crossed crazy for me. You then need an explaination of a FAQ ruling.

Well it is simply explained as, you can only use a single command of each you per turn at their proper timing (so for concentrate fire, it would be after the initial roll), you have to combine tokens and dials together if you want to use them in the same turn.

Concentrate Fire allows you to add a dice and reroll a dice which occurs right after you roll the initial batch of dice (known as the attack pool) from your current arc.

It seems complex but as long as you remember a few simple rules it is easy to understand.

1) only 1 of each command type can be used per ship activation

2) dials and tokens must be spent at the same time if you want both effects

3) squadron command and engineering commands get used right after the dial is revealed, concentrate fire is during the modify dice portion of the attack, and navigation command is before executing a maneuver

My videos are there on the link DWRR posted and I think they are decent (yes I know I am biased to my own work but who else is doing learning videos)

Its very simple...

If you want to use concentrate fire and you have a dial and a token you must make a choice.

Do I want to roll an extra dice?

Do I want to re-roll a dice?

Do I want to re-roll a dice and roll and extra dice (in either order)?

Then depending on what you want to do, you use the corresponding dial and/or token and then resolve both effects in the order of your choosing.

The only real fuzziness is that you have to decide if you want both effects before seeing what you potential extra dice roll might be... Do I waste the token if I don't need to re-roll...etc...
