I've actually been thinking about using substitute miniatures for the familiars, but where are you gonna find a wolf that fits only one space?
Here?

In this thread there is a good example of a wolf and reanimate proxy mini- toward the bottom.
Well, guess stuff does exist, just gotta go find em.
I have come accross this one also https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1325345/looking-substitute-wolf-and-reanimated
The true problem with plastic D&D, Otherworld and Reaper bones miniatures is the scale. All these pieces are at 28mm "eroic" scale and you will have a skeleton familiar one full head higher than your heroes.
I suggest to find proxies in the Ral Partha line, the scale is perfact and they may be "plasticized" or Painted as you want after being mounted on round bases.
Here some example:

Replacing Villager Tokens with Minis...hmmm.
Replacing Villager Tokens with Minis...hmmm.
Easy to handle than counters in the crowding of the map. I also use old Warammerquest micro red dice to sign damage, to avoid crowding: heart token are too big.

Nearly same thing I use mini dice sets, in different colors to know which monster has which dice
Ral partha minis are really ugly, and in metal ...
I thought to change villagers by tokens once too, but depending of the quest, they can either be militia, villager, or sometimes a special characters like a hero, so ....
Ral partha minis are really ugly, and in metal ...
You forgot to write the words "...in my opinion" after this statement.
I may understand Your hate of metal (but i don't share it) but saying that Ral Partha pieces sculpted after 1989 by D.Mize, J.Johnson or Sandra Garrity are "ugly" is something of criminal to me. Also, it is a truly paradoxical and fun assertion, because all the living Ral Partha sculptors are now Reaper sculptors, and two of them have sculpted miniatures for FFG games and for Descent 2nd edition, like Bob Naismith.
Edited by fulvio67Reaper has many figures, and as many quality. There's real good things and real bad ones, there's all.
Pathfinder battle miniature are better, and the scale looks good as far as I tried.
As everything in the world, a mini may be beautifull for someone and ugly for someone else. I don't like the Pathfinders exaggerated style , that is a bit like what you may find in Games Workshop or D&D 3.5., it's just a matter of personal taste, but everyone may chose what he want. In example, i have so much lead minis in my house to be protected from a nuclear blast, but I may understand someone that prefer pre-painted plastic miniatures, if he really manages to stomach the many bent swords, spears, maces etc....
Edited by fulvio67let's say they fit better with descent, that's all
Has anyone ever tried to make 3D tiles based on the Descent tiles?
I've tried modeling them in 3DSMax, and was thinking of 3d printing them, but it's just way too much work (how many tiles are there currently? 75+?) so I kinda gave up on the idea.
The latest announcement of Battlelore has a pack that also includes a reanimate miniature. Maybe a bit overkill to get the whole pack for 1 miniature, but still:
https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2015/7/27/the-undead-legions/
I guess it's only an option if you like Battlelore in the first place.
Edited by GridashI want to try Battlelore out. I will probably give it a go after I collect the Descent Expansions.
The latest announcement of Battlelore has a pack that also includes a reanimate miniature.
I have the Battlelore 2nd ed. game and all the published expansion, the problem to use a reanimate from the incoming undead army pack as Descent proxy is the scale. The Battlelore pieces are roughly 21mm in scale and the reanimates are too small for Descent.
Unless obviously you want to reanimate a gnome.
I would say the same thing, scale is not the same, but maybe for the reanimate, it wouldn't be so schoking, maybe I would try and tell after, but before the pack needs to be avalaible before ...
Mists of Bilehall small box expansion! Woo-hoo!
I get the feeling Descent is not nearing it's end.
This even seems to be a big box expansion and oddly enough they announced an Imperial Assault big box expansion as well.
I guess I were kind of right, when I said we'd see another expansion for D2E with original content once they got one big box expansion out for Imperial Assault. So they announced them at the same time, which means I was wrong, but I guess I had the right idea. And I might add: It never felt so good to be wrong
Edited by DAMazMists appears to be a one act expansion. That being the case I'm going to call this a semi-small box expansion. I wish we had gotten some new heroes but oh well.
Edited by UmarSlobberknockerI don't know, the more I read about mists the less interested I become. I sort of feel like we're just getting a half expansion that's maybe a step above a H&M.
Is there new info then?
