Games Day UK 2009

Will there be any presence from Fantasy Flight Games at Games Day UK tomorrow?

Last year's presence - a lone person manning a single small table with very little to show off - was frankly disappointing compared to the usual turnout from Black Industries in years before that, or compared to the attendance of any other company producing products based on GW's IP (in past years, various computer games companies have brought down tens of thousands of pounds of computer equipment to show off their games - and in THQ's case last year, a life-size Rhino APC - a few demo tables or similar doesn't seem like too much to ask by comparison). Given the impending release of Rogue Trader and the build-up to WFRP 3rd edition, not to mention board and card games, it seems frankly strange that FFG wouldn't put in an effort to attend a UK Games Day in at least some capacity.

Not that I'm going, as its to **** costly to travel from Norway for Gamesday and other cons outside the country.

Byt yes they should really make a presence.

I miss Games Day. I attended for Black Industries several times, and for Games Workshop several times before that, and it was always a highlight in my gaming year. Onwards and upwards with different cons, huh.

Actually, this thread reminds me that I really should put my last Games Day scenario online somewhere. It was fun.

I wonder if they plan to attend to games fair in Essen, Germany. They did years ago, but after that only their German distrubuters where there. But they never had any RPGs with then, just their board games. Would love to see the new v3 with my own eyes...! And a strong presence of WFRP and DH in the fantasy halls as a counterpart to all the D&D stuff would also be nice!

Yes yes yes! That was a great adventure and so much fun! Playing in that game really made my Games Day! Thanks once again for hosting it

If you do post it somewhere please let us know.

I shall never forget the mage burning down the inn by casting fireball (just a little one lol!) at the sign!

Heh! It was an awesome game, huh? The end was an absolute riot of treachery! I'll see about formatting it all into a decent pdf sometime soon as it makes a fine one-off adventure and it'd be a shame for it to rot on my hard drive. I'm just glad there are people around who remember it!

FFG didn't attend Games Day, but Esdevium were there in their place. They had demo games of Warhammer:Invasion and Chaos in the Old World (one table each) plus a table full of Rogue Trader and Dark Heresy books that you could look through.

WFRP had the same display as at Gencon, a glass cabinet full of apparent mock ups that you couldn't really look at. Based on this fairly limited display I can only add 3 things to the conversation round here:

1: It's a big box.

2: If those were the actual rulebooks and not just covers full of empty pages (looked like the same shrink wrapped offerings from Gencon) then they are VERY thin for the price.

3: Giant Slayer is available as a career (was just visible at the back of the display.

And that's it. Esdevium really couldn't tell us any more about the game than we've seen on here (actually they couldn't tell us anywhere near that much).

Rogue Trader looks really good though.

Oh, I remember it. I remember not getting to the table in time to sign up for it...
