Help assembling an A-Wing list?

So I'm relatively new to the game, having played maybe a dozen games or so. I'm not deep into the meta so I'm not sure how feasible this is, but I was hoping for some help putting together a (casually) viable list that incorporates A-Wings. (The more the merrier—I love them so!)

Ships aren't much of an issue. I have 5 A-Wings (3 Rebel Aces, two singles) and at least one of pretty much every other Rebel ship (except the Tantive). I've played around with online list builders, but I'm a little lost about what's actually any good (besides the Falcon).

Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated!

super tycho is always fun: tycho + title+PTL+daredevil+refit+EI

You need some beef with your Awings. Try something like BBAA or BYA. Or run a Falcon with some A's

I love running 3x Ace A's as well, can't bring out my squints until Vader hops off the deci and back into his TIE/Adv. again :)

Tycho - DD, PTL, Title, PRockets, EI (this can be traded for autothrusters, personal choice)

Jake - PTL, VI, Title, PRockets, Autothrusters

Gemmer - PTL, Title, Prockets, Autothrusters

A slighty less competitive variant (well As aren't too competitive in general) but totally hilarious version is swapping Gemmer for Arvel with intimidation and a PRocket! Set him up to block with your move so that he can focus to get the rocket off, and light some poor fool up with 5 focused dice vs. -1 agility (I'm looking at you C3PO Falcon)

Ah A-Wings, therapeutic, very fun to fly little things...enjoy them!

My A-List that I have been using lately (and winning more than not):

Jake - VI, PTL, Title, Autothrusters

Tycho - Expert Handling, PTL, Title, Autothrusters

Arvel Crynyd - Title, Autothrusters, Intimidation

Prototype Pilot

One of the best A-Wing builds is worth spamming: A Prototype Pilot with a Proton Rocket (20 points each, for up to 5).

If you go with the 5A version, use it like an alpha-strike fleet. If you can mass fire all of your Prockets in one go, you'll fire 25 dice at the enemy, focused. Expected damage of 18.75 in an Alpha-Strike fleet? Sign me up!

Incidentally, if you manage to Target Lock your opponents first, it's an expected damage of 23.44, also known as "Roll 1.56 misses across all 25 dice".

Heck, the fact that it requires a Focus rather than a Target Lock makes it better than most alpha-strike fleets in two ways; You can fire even when your opponent's the one to move into range, and you can change targets if the first one dies too quickly.

Alternatively, you can try going with Chardaan Green squaddies, Tycho, or Jake.

Gemmer's more annoying than threatening, and Arvel's not worth it even with Intimidation.

Tycho, on the other hand, is a Madman if built properly, and almost unkillable.

Jake is insanely mobile if you build the rest of the fleet around him.

Oh man, thank you all! Now I have a ton of options to play around with! I looove the idea of all the A-Wing swarms, and BBAA sounds like fun too, for sure. Now I know what my weekend's all about... :D

This is a really solid list. Just remember that the strength of low-ps A's is in blocking and/or the focus action.

Another surprisingly-competitive list I've been enjoying is 5 greens with Autothrusters, refit and Calculation. It is GG on decimators and Fel. Guaranteed crits and complete block coverage.

I do wonder if trying to fit psycho tycho over the greens would be a good idea...

PS 10 Tycho w/PTL, prockets, and thrusters hits 35 points

4 Prototypes is 60, leaving 4 points for two more thrusters and 1 point bid

I think the biggest challenge to a good A-wing list is the common 100 point limit. You can build three excellent ships for 85 points, but you are left with about 15 points on a throw-away (prototype pilot or a POS Z95). It is almost impossible to get three A's over 90 points without being silly, but builds under 20 points each don't seem to last long. Further, there are really only 2-3 decent aces anyway. There need to be one or more decent pilot with useful abilities, and more 85 or 110 point limits.

My buddy has run the following, and it has won every game he's played.

Tycho - Outmaneuver, PTL, Autothrusters, Homing Missles

Jake - Outmaneuver, PTL, Autothrusters, Prockets

Gemmer - PTL, Autothrusters, Chardaan Refit

A couple things... Tokened up A-Wings with Autothrusters are extremely survivable. The biggest problem with the A-wings is the 2-attack dice, This list solves that in a couple ways: (1) ordnance, and (2) outmaneuver. Outmaneuver will proc quite a bit, especially against larger ships. Remember you typically don't fly A-wings in formation, so 1 or 2 of your ships can easily be out of arc. The Homing Missle is great against fragile ships with a lot of green dice, especially if you can get the shot off when outmaneuver is active.

Frustrating as anything to fly against. I hate it, and I want to try flying it myself.
