Large Ships and Stress

By Trevolution, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Hey everyone, I've just recently started playing X-Wing and was wondering how stress on large ships like the millennium falcon works action and movement wise, I was told that large ships need 2 tokens before being affected by stress, as in still being able to take an action and move normally with just 1 stress token. Thanks.

Stress on large ships is exactly the same as small ships. It's *ion* tokens that have a difference. It takes 2 ion tokens to affect a large ship instead of 1.

What he said.

1 stress token affects large ships just the same as the small ones.

Ion Tokens on the other hand: You need two to shock a large base but only one to shock the small ones.

I dont know about rebel large base ships but Imperial large base ships really dont care much about stress. Least not with most builds.
My Decimator nearly always has a stack of stress on it before games end. My Shuttle too.

The Firespray is a little more stressable but not with the build I use with it.

The EPIC ships treat Stress a little bit differently in that they are not directly hindered by Stress but rather Stress will cut down on Energy production. Stress on the large based ships is handled just like on small bases.

As mentioned large ships require two Ion tokens before they suffer that activation penalty but once they do that they clear ALL Ion tokens until they get more.

edit: fixed. Sorry :(

No, that is ALSO ion tokens. Any stress tokens a huge ship receives are immediately discarded.

Wait a second, do I need to remove the part about Stress eating Energy? I knew Ion Tokens do and I guess I'm thinking Stress tokens did as well. If not it's time to edit and maybe find more ways to play Epic.

Yep stress means nothing to a huge ship.

To deal with what everyone's said:

Huge/Epic = Rebel Transport, Imperial Raider, et c.

Large = Falcon, Firespray, et c.

Small = Tie Fighter, X-Wing, et c.

  • Stress works exactly the same on a Large base as it does on a Small base.
  • Ion Tokens (dealt from an Ion Cannon, or similar effect) need two tokens to effect a Large base, rather than a Small. However, these tokens do not boil away until the effect has been triggered, and are all consumed by the effect.
  • Epic ships treat both differently. Stress, Focus, and Evade tokens simply fall off of them, and Ion tokens reduce their 'Energy', a mechanic found exclusively on the ships in question.
