Star Wars Rebels inspired EPT

I just watched the clip of Vader flipping his TIE Advanced to nail two A-Wings...

I mean sounds like fun can be had on super fast ships doing 5 straight, then just u turning to shoot then flipping back

After posting and thinking about it, I think it could see more use on the A-Wings (with A-Wing Test Pilot) than on any other ship. Might make for an interesting Psycho Tycho alternate build.

I like it. I'd put it on E-wings with Advanced Sensors. Flip your ship then perform your maneuver :D

Hah! Now that's just plain wrong!

Perhaps the wording would have to be:

Action: At the beginning of the Combat Phase, reverse the facing of your ship. At the end of the Combat Phase, return your ship to its original facing and receive a stress token.

I'm all for creative uses of an upgrade, but the Advanced Sensors combo with this idea would be too hard to balance I think. Although even with this rewrite, there are some pilots that are able to move during the Combat Phase... Let's say the design intent is to allow the ship's firing arc to flip just during their attack.

aww man i was just imagining Turr Phennir Flip, shooting, boosting out of arc, reflip

My original design intent was a stationary flip... But I am wondering if the few pilots with the ability to move during the Combat Phase should be allowed to do this for this proposed EPT. I think the Advanced Sensors combo with an entire maneuver performed after the flip is too powerful. But maybe the Turr boost wouldn't be. Yes, it makes very little sense in terms of physics and momentum, but when did that stop a cool idea in Star Wars?!

I do understand the intent of the EPT and combining it with Advanced Sensors probably would be too nasty. I still like the combo and I won't deny I was trying to figure out if it would work on Corran Horn with a K-Turn. AS, flip the ship, K-turn, attack, flip the ship back, attack someone else then run for two turns to clear stress.

There are a couple of other options to your modifications the original idea, one is you could treat it like Adrenaline Rush, "Action: discard this card too…" yes it would be nasty with AS, but only for one turn.

Alternatively you could strip the action header out but make it token dependant. Eg, "At the start of the combat phase you may discard a focus token to…". In this case you could keep the stress addition so using the EPT is expensive in terms of requires you spend a token AND costs stress so you can keep the points cost down. If you want to limit the EPT, replace focus with evade so only certain ships can take it.

Whatever final form of the EPT you settle on, I like the overall idea.

Small ship only.

Small ship only.

Yes, that might be best, but I'd only want to put on a restriction if necessary. The Deci and pancakes surely wouldn't take this EPT, since facing during the Combat Phase means little to them. Much the same for Firesprays. Aggressors?

Now I'm imagining this with the YV-666 :D Though only Bossk can actually take EPT as far as I know.

It would be insane on IG and Bossk. Too much really.

Does seem a little crazy to imagine a large ship flipping around.

By the way, Kulbit:

Needs a starwarsy name.

Otherwise, I like it - an EPT for the non-turrets to play pretend for a little while. ;)

About the biggest objection is that it shuts down Auto-thrusters and Outmanoeuvre at the point in time they should be benefiting most.

I was thinking of calling it a Kulbit Flip, then we could just shorten it to K-Flip.

Definitely have to be small ship only and even then idk... being able to flip around a turret ship (primary or secondary) would directly counter autothrusters "outside of firing arc" trigger.

...which is why it's action dependent and takes the EPT slot... not enough? And I haven't costed it yet... suggestions?

Looked like Vader k-turned with Adrenalin Rush, then blew up one Awing with Advanced targeting computer and the TL he had. Then he whacked the other A wing the next turn. Like a boss. Or Lord. No need for any new EPT.

I'd call it a Mark VII Viper.

I'd call it a Mark VII Viper.

Or an Earthforce SA-23E Mitchell-Hyundyne Aurora-class Starfury.

I think I'd do it as a 1 use card.

In the end phase you may discard this card to turn your ship 180.

You'd need to commit to the K-Turn in the planning phase, but it would have applications outside of that.

I like it (the original post the most), Make it unique and expensive (~6pts). dual IG88s don't have the points for an expensive EPT and it stresses, Ewings can have it and adv sensors (no PTL on corran sounds great).

I think it is awesome, but it does seem a bit silly. I think the flipping back to original facing is pushing it for me.
