So, looks like Worlds sold out for Imperial Assault as well. Not sure how quickly it happened, I know not as fast as say Armada or X-Wing but still, good sign they sold out what spots they had.

I know I got in and I didn't buy my tix until sometime on tuesday.
I think it's dumb there are limits for events get a bigger place, run pods, this whole limit thing is starting to get silly.
Regionals are for xwing are like mini world events.
I have not get my badge yet waiting to see how gencon goes and how the madison regional goes for Matt.
I do plan on going but want to see how gencon is run and that goes before I look at worlds.

I think your strategy might be flawed if Worlds was already sold out by the time you wrote that post.
If they are going to run it at their Event Center, then the space is limited by the their venue, which was all pretty transparent in their announcement article describing the situation.
Basically, the idea of waiting to see how it goes at GenCon will only pay off if you win the National to get your reserved space. The safe move would be to get the ticket at sale time, and if you didn't get it, you have a hail Mary move to try and win your National to still get a spot.
There are too many eager beavers that really wanted to go to Worlds that were there to buy their tickets ASAP.
They are releasing reserved tickets on August 17th.
I will clear up my thinking a little:
I have a Reserved spot , but not sure I'll be going yet and want to see how gencon goes first. Also BV has a reserved spot and the plan right now is for us to drive up together just for IA. Odds are 2-3 three of us will be going.
Also I believe the top four at Nationals get a reserved spot at Worlds and regional winners.

Gotcha; so you already have your "in", you're just waiting to coordinate with your friend to see if it can hold up logistically for you to convoy up.
If Top 4 Nationals gets a spot, don't tell the people over in the X-Wing board. They'll riot in the streets.
Can we still get an Event Pass. I would still like to go but they seem to be sold out as well.

Doubtful. The Event Pass is just your ticket to get a redeem code to buy your specific entry into a tournament. It's not like getting a convention badge that lets you walk around wherever, and you buy into specific attractions within that.
If you think about it as a player, would you want a stream of random people shuffling though the tournament room spectating? You'd probably want it to stay as closed-off as possible, given how crowded a full-house swiss pool can be in there.
Last year it wasn't closed off. They never checked my budge unless I was playing. Don't see why you couldn't go walk around...
i am pretty sure if you contact FFG OP and say you want to just play in side events and walk around pretty sure you would be able to get an event pass for the 5 days.
