Bear with me, oh rules gurus, I come lately to the game, and what may be evident to y'all, is still a bit fuzzy for me ![]()
Okay, so HLC says, "Immediately after rolling your attack dice..."

and Bossk says, "... before dealing damage..."

Does the "before dealing damage" and the "immediately after rolling" happen simultaneously? - such that you can choose to modify a crit to two hits (as per Bossk), before resolving the crits to hits (as per HLC).
I am guessing not, but I wouldn't mind hearing others chime in. And my apologies if this is something someone else has asked and has had masticated already...
Bossk + HLC?
No because immediately after rolling is well before determining if 'an attack hits'. 'Hits' in x-wing terminology is an attack that has passed the defender's defense and is about to deal real damage. The sole exception is Lt. Blount, who always makes his attacks 'hit', but not always for damage.

It is good to have that spelled out for me like that. Thanks.
Bossk wants to use the Mango. (and run Greedo)
The HLC triggers when you roll dice (Step 2). It converts crits to hits before you even get to the normal Modify Results Step (3).
Bossk triggers in Step 6, once a hit has been determined.
Why do I suddenly recall countless discussions about accuracy corrector?
Here we have the first card that use the rule for abilities that cancel dice, since AC was errataed. Will people start the same argument again even though this card makes it very clear that it happens in Step 6.

Actually.... it still doesn't use that rule. The standard rule specifies that those abilities must be used at the beginning of Step 6. Bossk triggers after a hit has been determined, well into the step.
The standard "Modify in 3, Cancel in 6" rules apply only to abilities which do not have any specific trigger (other than during the attack, usually). Since Bossk does, he cancels the dice when he says he cancels the dice, just like the HLC modifies them when it says it does.
True. I realize that after reading the card again. The timing is akin to ion weapons, except this is optional where ion effects are mandatory.
