The Raider is a prime example why you should never pre-order anything until the last possible minute. I'll order it when it's in the "Shipping Now" stage.

I disagree. If I had saved the money, I would've spent it on something else. This way, I get to use it on what I want without blowing it first.

And you don't get to use the interest on that money at all because it's in FFG's account rather than yours.

I'd really be surprised if it gets released before GenCon, since we're so close now. Seems like FFG would want to earn that extra moolah.

Otoh, getting it out there early would allow some TIE advanced squads to play at Nationals, which would make everyone happy. I don't think it will happen though.

I'm not sure why they'd make any more money by releasing at GenCon vs. releasing to the public. I also have no idea if it's happening, mostly I am sharing what I was told by my lgs, and I was curious if anyone else had heard similar.

They charge msrp at the con but discount to distributors and then to dealers. Since they don't deal direct to the public except at cons they don't receive full msrp.

There wouldn't be interest on the money as I would've spent it already. I probably would've bought into Armada if I had the money sitting in my bank account. Now, though, I have purchased the Raider and am happy to wait for it. So, the choice is to blow it on something else, or get something I know I want.
