How does the book 'feel'? Does it get you excited about playing a Diplomat?

I've only skimmed the book, but there's a bunch of stuff I'm going to be stripmining for my Politico. The two books work nicely in conjunction.

Picked up my copy the other day. Wonderful book. Both games I am involved in have more of an EotE focus, but I think this might be my favorite book. All of the weapons, clothing/armor, and gear feel new and fresh while filling niches that were previously unexplored.

I have only skimmed it, but good info on running social encounters and giving tips.

It also has a table that is very similar to the Far Horizons homestead rules for Rebel Alliance bases.

You can purchase a Training Facility that lets you turn Knowledge (Warfare) or one combat skill (except Lightsaber) into a career skill as long as you operate out of the base.

Having just received the book in the mail today, I find it interesting that one of the mission ideas includes the concept of using Imperial stormtroopers as allies. Not particularly groundbreaking or original, but not something that you think about that much. I also noticed the book uses the term "Aquatic" in a few places, instead of "Amphibious".

Is there anyone that has the book and can post the characteristics and the special abilities of each species? It would be very helpful if possible because I have a player in my group who is curious about the idea of playing as one of these species in this book. Thanks.

Caamasi has Memni, where they can record one scene per game session perfectly in their minds, and then can access all of their Memni whenever they want. 3 Willpower, 1 Cunning

Neimoidian gets 3s in Intellect and Cunning, but 1s in Brawn and Willpower

Gossams are Silhouette 0, get 3 in Cunning, 1 in Brawn.

Caamasi are the most interesting of the new species, in my opinion. They start with one rank in either Charm or Discipline. Additionally, they have the ability to form Memnis. A Memnii is a special type of memory of a significant or traumatic event that a Caamasi can recall perfectly at any time, or share with another Caamasi or Force sensitive.

Nemoidians start with one rank in either Deception or Negotiation.

Gossams start with one rank in Deception. They're also considered Silhouette 0 creatures.

And this is the free skill rank they got at the beginning.

I'm looking to start up an AoR campaign soon, and one of my players wants to play a Neimoidian Diplomat. Unfortunately the book hasn't hit shelves here in Norway yet, so could someone please help me out with the Neimoidian stats? From this thread I've pieced together that they start with Characteristics 1 2 3 3 1 2, and can take a rank in either Negotiation or Deception. I'm looking for their starting XP, wound and strain values and any abilities they start with. Any help would be much appreciated.

All told, I think this is my least favorite book. The new specs seem like they're not very useful for a general group, and would really need a campaign tailor-made around them. Some of the new gear is pretty cool, though.

I want to really like Analyst (closest thing to a tech/face in the books), though its active abilities encourage spam, and knowledge skills could use some more love (knowledge specialist is such a waste of talents slots, just adding successes, laaaaaame)..

Advocate is for someone to assist the main face with, which seems like a bit of a weird role (but interesting, for a Will-ful thug to do something other than growl at people), and their Interjection (when anyone makes a social check, Vigilance the hell out of those results) looks to be godly. Advocate's just not impressive if they have to act alone.

Propagandist is the generalist, with Bad Press potentially really hitting minion health hard (for combat), while Well-Rounded and contact powers let them be useful outside it. And Improved In The Know is just a marvel as you could make Darth Vader believe Palpatine's been dating Chewie and Han Solo is their lovechild.

I think they're all very interesting. But none would be my pick for first specialization...

Erm, you're getting two stats at 3 right out of the gate. That IS the special ability. Their wounds even compensate for the lack of Brawn a little...

Sorry, I take it back. I have a personal document I update with each new release wherein I break down each species by point value (stats at this amount, special abilities at this amount, etc.). I recalculated and found I had somehow missed 20 points in the Neimodian array.

That said, they could use another free rank in a skill or a free talent. But they're not nearly as point-deficient as my earlier bad math told me.

I have been wanting to do an adventure that is kind of like the tv show "Reign"... Only instead of the "French Court" it would be set in the "Imperial Court". Any ideas on how this should be treated? I really like the show, and think a scenario based on the show would be cool in Star Wars. Thoughts???
