Hound's Tooth in tournament play

By Hawkstrike, in X-Wing

So I'm wondering what the impact of the Hound's Tooth will be in tournament play?

On the one hand, it's a fixed arc large base ship with a limited maneuver dial -- like the shuttle, but slightly more arc. So viable but not horribly intimidating.

On the other hand, lots of crew, plus a half-price Z-95 that really extends the life of the ship in timed play. Is this another points fortress in the making, only potentially more annoying?

Admittedly, we don't know exactly how the deploy mechanic will work. I'm speculating you don't get the points for the Hound's Tooth until both it and the Pup are killed (since the Pup is a component/feature of the Hound's Tooth, not really a separate ship). So if you don't burn down the YV-666 quickly enough, you could be looking at the points on the table for quite a while.

On the other hand, if you get the points for the YV when it explodes, how does that work with the Pup still flying around?

Edit: Drat, I see there's another thread on the Pup down a bit; guess this could be merged.

I think it will slot nicely into two ship scum bounty bro lists as it's a great looking value, maneuverable enough to count and with good pilots. If the special-k is a better ship than the xwing it might even show up in 2 ship lists

Slightly more arc? More then double! A normal arc is about 80 degrees and that bad boy is a full 180 degrees! Although it could be 170 degrees and I wouldn't quite be able to tell from the picture.

You do realize with a 3 turn a a boost that gives you a range of about 315 degrees! Good luck arc dodge this guy.

Hmm with Dare Devil you could have some crazy coverage. Too bad you can't use predator and daredevil lol.

too soon!

right now I can only imagine putting tacticians on generics or gunner + bossk on generics or that sexy ps 5. I have no idea if it'll work or not, but it's new.

about all I can is the YV is going to be **** as a fat ship. No damage cancel and anything less than a great dial does not a good fat ship make

'3 turn + boost is always a hell of a lot of obstructions you could be running into
