Nice write up!

Very nice write-up. I am completely jealous of your banking pegs!

I think some of the comments Aaron has made have me nearly sold on A over C. I have never gotten a lot I use out of D.

Thank you.

Alpha is another one of those cards like Predator: it scales well. You get SOME use out of it no matter what build your opponent is playing; you get MORE use out of it if they are playing a build that is - typically - a tougher matchup for dual Aggressor (swarm-y lists). I was very glad to see Aaron win with A and put some of the myths about his uselessness to bed, because they're just that: myths.

I know when I switched from VI to Predator in my Defender list, it felt like my firepower doubled (and in some cases, it practically does). It's always good, and it's amazing when you need it the most. I'm pretty interested in IG-88A as well. The evade token and the 90 degree S-loop might be useful, but getting a extra shield (the minimum) will always be useful. Aggressors are AGI3 with great defensive options. That extra shield not only keeps you alive, it lets you be more aggressive, which can help keep you alive in the long run. Sorry I didn't get a chance to play or meet you.

It's pretty rare that I don't get use out of the evade tokens generated by C's ability. I will probably try A at some point, but I love being able to take a boost with Advanced Sensors and end someplace weird or unexpected and still have an evade token (just in case).

No worries about meeting folks; it was a big event! There's always other regionals or worlds. =) I was stoked to read about your success with double D's. I've tried a similar list a couple of times and haven't had much success with it, but it has been a long time since I ran it. I think I will have to break it out again and put it through the motions.

I've not played C a ton, but very often I find myself not really desiring to both boost and evade. It's great if you need it, but it's probably one of those things that's heavily play style dependent. Sadly, no more major tournaments for me this season. This game looks like it will be going strong for a while, though.

I find myself taking an Advanced Sensors boost a LOT in order to engineer the board position I am looking for and/or hold open the range in an engagement. For me, the extra comfort of having a free evade at the end of doing so is welcome.

The comfort of the free evade is indeed pretty sweet. I must say that I find myself only rarely actually using that evade token, but it does it get used every so often.

I agree. I do like C with advanced sensors. I just don't really care for running my IG's with AS. FCS B is too good!

I've had a few local players ask me about flying the Brobots because I have a LOT of games with them under my belt. I tell them that when deciding how to outfit their Aggressor that the system upgrade choice is the most important one, and it will essentially define how you fly.

Fire Control System - especially when paired with HLC - turns the Aggressor into a sledgehammer. There's not much subtlety in your approach: you're going to keep your guns pointed where they need to go and throw 4 target locked (and probably focused) dice at your opponent every round.

Advanced Sensors is more subtle. It essentially makes you unblockable (not 100% accurate, of course, but it removes much of the incentive in trying to land a block to begin with) while opening up more movement options - via boosting before revealing your dial - than can be explained. You will be more slippery and hard to pin down, and you'll have to be, because being able to find points to fit two HLCs and two Advanced Sensors in the same list is tough. Chances are you'll have to sacrifice some firepower and downgrade at least one ship to a Mangler (you CAN fit everything in if you go with a 1 point EPT, but that severely limits your EPT options).

Neither is a bad choice, but they play pretty differently in my experience.
