x-wing should add v-wing

x-wing should add the v-wing from rogue squadron the game

That's a speeder it can't fight in space.

so

So that's a pretty good reason to not include it.

Having done an "epic" version of the game, it is not impossible to imagine a "ground assault" version where low altitude air craft, hover tanks and the like can fly side by side with the much faster moving space craft... but, I don't think that'll ever happen.

Just add rules for dogfighting in atmo. Have it come with a V-Wing two pack that has game pieces to go along with the new rules.

Sure lets add the unshielded snowspeeder with it's 2320 so it can evaporate under the guns of starfighters...

I'd be all for a ground based game with AT-AT's and infantry where speeders would do well but in x-wing they are way below snubfighters in terms of power.

and boom you added v-wing and snow speeders

Are you talking about the Alpha-3 Nimbus-class V Wing? Like this: 90x55x2-CloneFlightSquadSevenVwings_zpsx ?

That's definitely a starfighter.

That won't change the fact that speeders are to weak to fit in this game. I don't think fundamentally altering the way this game works just to add a few ships that most of us don't care about is a good idea. The same way that I wasn't a fan of the idea of adding a "ground version" of the game unless they made a new game designed to work with infantry and land-based vehicles.

It was powerful enough to take out TIE Droids and destroy AT-AT swimmers. It also carried a lethal fire and forget multi-cluster concussion missile that could kill 6 TIE Droids.

So we add a bunch of new rules just so we can put one new ship in the game? There was a discussion about the snowspeeders a while back and it was agreed that they're just too outclassed by the existing ships to fit into the game, and this seems like way too much work just to add the V Wing.

Everything that has been designed so far has been designed with no consideration towards atmospheric combat. It's way too late to start adding that now.

ok ok I get we should not add v-wings to the game right

Why not, its no diffrent when FFG writes up missions with special rules for the large game pieces and Aces. You really dont need very fance rules for combat on planets. Hell bare bones all you have to do is change the table background too look like its on a planet and not play missions that could only be played in space. Just count astroids as mountain tops and blaster turret mines as a.s.a. and you got enough alternate rules to have a atmospheric battle.

Then why bother with atmosphere rules at all? But that would bring us back to the issue of the V-Wing not being a starfighter. What would make a lot more sense would be if FFG made up a variant of it that could go into space. They created the Raider from scratch so there's at least precedent for that, but having airspeeders fight in orbit wouldn't really work. Neither would trying to make rules for atmospheric combat, because the rules would either change so little that it would just be one mission (in which case why not have tokens for the V instead) or they'd cause balance issues because the game never tried to account for them before.

I can see it now, a Rebel/Imperial two pack with both V-wings. The rebel ones can be the air speeder that has been refitted to space use (the T-16 could be modified for space, why not other atmospheric craft?), and the Imperial ones can come with Imperial Astromech upgrade cards (everyone gets their own droids!).
