Assigning Damage

Hey all, I'm not sure how to resolve damage cards when the attacker rolls more hits then you have hull left on your ship. For example: Lambda shuttle attacks a rebel y wing which has one hull point remaining, the Lambda player rolls 1 crit and two hits to which the y wing player rolls no evade. Do you take all three cards from the damage pile or just one as the y wing has only one hull point remaining?

Then check damage. If the total cards equal or exceed the hull, remove from play.

Think of it as an easy way to shed direct hits without taking the actual damage.

You are to suffer all of the cards although in practice their rarely matters.

If simultaneous fire rules are in effect any "extra" face-up cards could have an impact on the attack of these zombie ships so those extra cards can be important here.

In other situation all drawing the extra cards does is give more statistical information about what is currently in your damage deck. Once a ship is destroyed all of its damage cards get discarded face-up allowing you to know if certain cards have been used or not and also giving you a chance to spot any 'irregularities' with a deck. The effect of this is usually very minor.
