Q: Spread your Wings

By Funkfried, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Aloha,

while reading the instructions for the Manor of Raven Quest "Spread your Wings" one passage kept me thinking:

Special Rules: After Setup, each hero tests awareness. For each hero that fails, perform an attack with Skarn. That attack targets only the hero that fails.

In which order do the heroes perform the test? In which order are they attacked? I'm playing a marshall with 4 in knowledge. Am I allowed to play I am the Law? All requirements seem to be met. If yes and the heroes choose the order, it might be possible to inflict the weakened condition on Skarn to reduce his/its further damage output against the remaining 3 heroes.

Additional question: When exactly am I allow to use a stamina potion as it only states to flip it over during your turn? Is it within the rules to use it during an attack, for example to restore enough stamina to use additional skills?

Thanks in advance and best regards

Funkfried

Timing: Tricky- usually, timing is settled by whose turn it is, and it doesn't seem to be anyone's turn at that point. However, like a Travel event, I'd default to the OL being the decider, since he's the closest thing this game has to a GM. I don't know of an official answer on that one.

Skill: As long as everyone is on the map properly (that is, Skarn is actually within 2 spaces of the heroes) then I don't see why "I am the Law" couldn't be used,

Potion: Potions can be exhausted between actions, but not during any action (except a move action, because those can be interrupted.) Therefore, no, you cannot use it during an attack.

Out of everyone's turn, I'd say OL chooses, but is absolutely worth asking FFG.

I don't think you can interrupt an attack to use a potion. I'd say before declaring the action, or after resolving it.

The only trigger a stamina potion has is the phrase "during your turn". The attack is during my turn. I'm allowed to use skills during an attack action, so why not potions? Is there any rule preventing it? I would be grateful if anyone could ask FFG about both questions. The ask a question tool is still not working for me :-/

EDIT: I was unable to find the rule- I think I was remembering the rule that you can't interrupt actions to suffer fatigue to gain MP.

By the way- I can get the rules question tool to work if I change theme back to the old dark blue. You should also be able to go directly here.

Worked. I forwarded my questions to FFG and I will post the answers as soon as I get them.

Aloha Funkfried!

Heroes perform the test in the order of their choosing. As soon as a hero fails the test, that hero is attacked. Yes, you are allowed to play “I am the Law.”

“During your turn” refers to during the Perform Actions step of a hero’s turn. A hero may use a “during your turn” effect either before their actions, between their actions, or after their actions, but they cannot interrupt any action other than a move action with these effects. So, no, a stamina potion could not be consumed during an attack.

I hope this helps!

Thanks for playing,
