Hey! My copy of Miskatonic Horror arrived today, and although I still have to purchase Lurker, KiY and CotDP, I find myself in need of a practical storage solution. Currently, I have everything scattered across the boxes (ofc, location decks are in their respective boxes, but it does not help if every box has to be opened either way). I have seen numerous solutions on BGG, but all of those require either handywork, which I'm not comfortable with, or are expensive as hell. Can anyone give me some advice on a (preferebly) cheap storage solution that can hold every single card and token from all the expansions? It does not have to be fancy, or thematically tied (suitcases, folders, etc). Thanks!
Storage solution needed
This is not the best way, nor the most visually appealing, but I went and bought a 3 drawer plastic tub from either Target or Walmart. I ziplock and label the bags according to type or board depending on the compoenent, and use the large boxes to store components that are typically "always in." I set the boxes inside of the boxtops so that they are always open and easy to grab from.
I keep the small box components in their respective boxes.
The ziplocks look something like (AO's + Investigators), Heralds & Guardian, Items/spells/sklls/allies, investigator tokens, AO tokens + Mask Monsters etc + Epic battle cards, Dunwich encounters + tokens, Innsmouth Encounters + Tokens, Kingsport Encounters + tokens, Gates/Monsters.
Cheap and easy, though I'm sure there are better set-ups out there that are more efficient. We all have this problem, lol.
Edited by SoakmanI was all ready to build this elaborate wooden storage box to hold everything, but I saw a video on Youtube that really made me second guess that option. It looks really simple, cheap, and looks like a pretty easy way of being able to get the pieces/cards you need without a lot of digging around. The only drawback is to do it the way this guy does it, you need to do a bit of math. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4SJN6uD5do
Edited by gjamYou can almost fit all cards and tokens in one of the big boxes actually. I have very unsentimentally discarded boxes (let alone the tiresome inlays) after finding three of the large ones are enough. But then, I have also made cardboard boxes to hold cards that I can fit into the game boxes and these take a lot of extra volume. If you put all the boards, rules and dice in one box, there should be room left for something else, possibly character sheets (in my case location decks in their little deck boxes, as well as homemade stamina/sanity sliders and a little box containing some always-used tokens). The second box contains (almost) the rest of the cards, as well as most of the tokens, ziplocked and ready. I need a third box for expansion locations and some other expansion specific tokens. Without all those cardboard boxes I made, I'm pretty sure I could have slimmed it down to just two boxes though.

Yeah, I came up with a fairly similar solution in the end. I removed the insert from the Miskatonic box, and placed every single deck that is necessary for every game, regardless of what expansions are being used in it. (Arkham encounters, other worlds, mythos, items, spells, relationship cards, stories, etc.) then poured the tokens (stamina, etc.) into the Arkham base game insert, so they can be drawn directly from the box. The rest of the cards, I placed in the box of whatever expansion they came from. This has the advantage of fixing setup time. Previously it took me about 40 minutes to open everything and set the game up. Now, if my GF is helping, setup can be done in about 15 minute tops, not counting choosing the investigators, and drawing starting gear.
