Went and played at the regional event at Game Theory in Raleigh NC last night. Let me preface this report by giving much love to the staff at Game Theory for a well run and confusion-free event.

I ended up bringing Boba and IG-88B, I switched to this last second the night before because I decided a TIE swarm was too mentally exhausting to fly for an entire day.

My first game at a X-Wing tournament I was pleased to not have to face one of the top meta lists early on. I set up IGB in the left corner, and Boba right of center. His ships were clustered opposite IGB. After 2 turns of maneuvering Boba had a range 1 shot on Vader and popped off 2 of his shields. Rexler had K4 the turn before so I did a gentle 1 to the right with IGB, expecting him to K4 again. Nope, Rex shot forward 5 and focused. IGB rolled 2 nat hits with the ion and forced Rex to spend his focus to evade it. IGB Gunner Proc'd and I got 3 hits by spending my focus. With no tokens left Rex rolled evade evade eyeball blank. Zap! From there it was pretty much over. Boba chased Vader for awhile while Dark Curse took shots at IGB, 2 attk dice vs. 3 evade is really rough and IG only lost one shield. IGB walked Rex down to board with ion till he got him to 2 hull, then let fly with the mangler cannon. After Rex died his green dice caught on fire and it took a solid 10 minutes for Dark Curse and Vader to go down.

5x Bandit Squad

Chris was a cool dude who had come to the tournament with the sole intention of making anyone who brought a decimator hate life. Lucky for him his first match of the day was vs. a deci and he whalloped him. He clustered his ships in the middle of the board. IGB set in the middle and Boba on my left side. He did 3 banks towards me, coming in fast. IGB noticed Ten's facing and zipped up 3 + a boost to take an ion shot at him. Zap! Ten went on the rocks. This allowed Boba to K turn behind the Bandits as the B couldn't shoot. IGB one hit a Bandit with Crit Crit Hit next turn. Defense dice blanked and he pulle a direct hit. Boba laid into Ten with his butt cannon and IGB threw dice at him as well. When Ten went down my opponent had 2 Bandits left vs Boba and IG with 3 shields each. He conceded full MoV.

Game 3 vs. Jason

RAC-VI, Gunner, Navigator

Whisper-ACD, VI, FCS

I was pretty scared going into this game, I've never fought a deci on the table in a serious match. IG set up in the middle and Boba on the right flank facing whisper and RAC. We slow rolled the first turn, then Boba shot up 3 the second and caught Whisper with her cloak down. Hit hit crit...blank blank...DIRECT HIT. I almost felt bad then I remembered it was a tournament and I didn't have to deal with a Whisper

Did your IG have Lone Wolf as well?

I really like the IG/Fett combo. What made you bring it? What are your thoughts about it now? Would you change anything?

Yes it did. Totally forgot I had it when that card came in so clutch throughout the entire day. I decided on IG/Fert because we are still in a 2 ship meta primarily, and I didn't want to fly a turret. I think it is a very strong list but takes very careful positioning as you have less damage output then Dash/Corran, brobots, RAC+Whisper, or Gunner Han + Talas. I think the tactician on boba is mandatory, as much as I would prefer a recon specialist the stress giver is necessary because of Soontir. Ironically I never faced a Soontir. I am glad I switched out the HLC on IG for Mangler+Ion. Ion won me my first 2 games and mangler really chews through decis. I'm not sure what I would change at this time. I think if I had flown better in the finals I could have won it all but I misjudged a SLoop and ended up in front of 3 Bs with Accuracy corrector at range 1.

Nice to see another Boba/IG do well (along with the Vancouver, WA Regionals last night)! Ironically, I started having more success with the list when I changed IG to have HLC+FCS instead of Mangler/Ion/AdS. I guess it's all in the flying style and the opponents we meet.

Tactician is required for sure! Though I'm loving my Autoblaster Cannon too much (killed numerous phantoms and Soontirs with it) to give it up.

Yeah, it does take a little bit of practice to figure out when to use it or not, but it makes Boba that much more dangerous, especially with Dampners.

Congrats! I was there as well and made the top 8 with you. I lost to the same guy who beat you in the final. I had Fel and RAC and had no clue how to tackle those B's effectively. Enjoy those templates!

It was a good event. I was there with "Prince and the New Power Generation" - Xizor w/ 5 Z-95's. I won the first 3 vs. meta lists and then faced a Phantom w/ Decimator in round 4. I got spanked hard and turned bitter. My last game could've gotten me into the top if I won, but my dice left me and I just couldn't hit anything. Was 3-2 in the end.

I went 4-1 and got 9th. I missed Top 8 by 14 points. It was some of the best flying I've ever done and am very happy with my performance. The game I lost is what hurt me, I only killed two tie fighters. I had a shot at making my MoV better and could have killed my opponent's decimator but put down the wrong move and ended out of arc and he blew me up. I also lost my own decimator (was running Fel and RAC) in a game against Chewie and Dash. Sacrificed RAC to get one more dmg on Chewie with Vader instead of letting my opponent kill him. All in all a good day and a good time. The trip wouldn't have even been possible without one of my buddies letting us use his hotel room since he was down there on business.

I'm afraid that whisper/deci you faced in round 4 got knocked there because of me @heychadwick, that was the guy I 1 shotted the phantom of in game 3.
