When I roll a crit do I spend the die to activate Overload do I still get the crit damage? Same with Dodonnas pride.
Overload Cannon
Nah. An attack can only trigger one crit effect.
The "damage" total still counts the dies with crit faces, but the defender doesn't turn the first damage card they suffer face up as a result.
Dodonnas pride is similar, but a bit different. It's crit effect cancels all its damage dice (i.e. no dice with damaging faces to count up for damage) in exchange for a face up damage card.
I think we need a stickied topic just regarding critical hits!
So overload does not work if the defender still has all his shields that i must burn through? It works the same way as a normal crit would be delt with?
Overload Pulse can work even on a shielded target. Since its effect does not require hull damage to resolve.
I had a question regarding overload pulse as well.
You crit the enemy, they exhaust all their defense tokens.
If you get a second overload pulse, does it remove all their defense tokens, since they were already exhausted, or does it have no effect because all it can do is exhaust them, not spend them again after?
A second pulse would have no effect.
If a token is exhausted, making it exhausted again won't do anything.
