So... HHHZ...

By Koshinn, in X-Wing

I was at this tournament and was running Brobots against it. I SEVERELY underestimated it's power and died in 3 turns.

1st turn...movement

2nd turn...he kills IG88B

3rd turn...IG88C panics and attempts to fly away...he kills him.

Game over

The list is crazy and just synergizes so well.

I'm loving that we've had Wave 6 for however long... and new (tournament worthy) lists are still bubbling to the surface.

Gives me some comfort that FFG have built a bit of depth into their releases and there is still room to explore.

What I wonder is, how good is this list against lists that know its coming??

Are there any videos of this list being run? I have a ton of experience running Roark with bs and ys but I can't figure this one out tactics wise.

What I wonder is, how good is this list against lists that know its coming??

But most other lists don't have the tools to beat it.

Even if you know it's coming, it's pretty hard to stop. It messes with your target selection, action economy, and even how the combat phase plays. There are a few things that can hard counter parts of this list; Jax and Dark Curse work well against Palob, Roark completely negates Torkhil because of the timing window difference, and Rebel Captive stops Dace's extra damage before he gets a chance to use it. Flying against it is another matter, though I've found the IGs to be particularly tough since they have an easier time sitting at R3 (especially with HLCs), and the Autothrusters do hurt all three turrets pretty significantly, if they have to fire out of arc, which is most likely going to be the case.

Dace can work off of Torkil's ion turret if he decides to shoot someone else.

That's a really annoying ability.

I posted this list, in a thread by Sable I think. Figured I post it here again. I'm not sure I'd take this list to a large tournament but it was fun to play at league night. I know at one point was playing around with dropping the proton bombs for a prox mine, but I can't remember what I settled on.

HAWKY

100 points

PILOTS

Dace Bonearm [Predator, Ion Cannon Turret] (31)

Palob Godalhi [Predator, Blaster Turret, Recon Specialist, Moldy Crow] (33)

Kavil [bomb Loadout, Blaster Turret, R4 Agromech, Veteran Instincts, Proton Bombs] (36)

Why oh why did I read this thread? I don't need a new $125 hole in my wallet...

Though I must say, it is making me want to play some Scum ships... I just don't have any...

And... that is going to mean more Battlefoam...

Bad timing really, cause it is too close to Raider-pocalypse now... this is looking more like a Christmas get together with the Wretched Hive!

I call BS on it going down like that. This list is capable of doing 6 hits (only 3 of which can ever be crits) in a round. Even if this list rolled perfectly and the IGs didn't get a single evade result it shouldn't be possible to kill an undamaged IG in a single round. Dace would strip the first two shields, Palob strips the last two shields and get a Direct Hit! crit through, and Mux does a point of damage. The IG would be left with one hull.

EDIT: Forgot about the Z.

Plus the Z95.

Forgot about him. So it's possible, just highly unlikely.Especially, to have it happen twice in one match. That guy should go buy a lottery ticket.

I wasn't paying attention to the match, but I was playing a game next to it and they were done in like 10 minutes.

Was I the only one who at first thought this thread would be about 3 Generic Hound's Teeth and a Z-95?

That could actually work.

I think I'd prefer 4 points of crew on each of the Teeth over the Z-95, though.

That's an Intelligence Agent + Navigator combo

Or a Double Tactician

Or an Outlaw Tech + 2 points.... et c.

Or Engine, lol.

Last night, I played Torkil, Palob and Guri. That's a fun little, annoying, irritating, list. :) My opponent hated it.

That.... That works.

Does it trouble anyone else that this thing's only 2 points more expensive than an Outer Rim Smuggler?

Squawks guys, they're called Squawks!

as SQuadron of hAWKS - I love it!

Tried the Torkil + ICT, Palob + MC + Blaster + Recon + Predator, Dace + Pred +ICT, Pirate list verus Blair the other night on Vassal. He was flying close to hard counter: Blue + FCS x2, Gold + ICT + Title + R3-A2 ("Stresshog"), Proto + Refit. I almost won! A few close dice rolls and some target selection mistakes on my part caused my demise, but overall I was impressed with the list.

So, tried this list today at the tournament.

It's fun against hi green low hull targets, like Phantoms or Interceptors (3 turrets!).

But, for example, list with 4 B's drop it down at turn 4, may be five.

Very hard to have enemy at range 2 for 3 ships at the same time. 3 ships with bad dials.

Purchased a third hwk during regionals last night. This is happening.

I think this is the best squad list thread ever made. =P

(Although ACDC garnered a little more attention)

I actually got my games in against b wing swarms, I dont think it would work in competitive play due to time limits, but spreading the game out and forcing them to miss turns works great. Palob needs opportunist though.

I gotta try this list. I've always thought that even the Rebel HWK is a powerhouse with the right combo (Kyle+Lando+MC+Autoblaster Turret scares the crap out of me late-game), but this list sounds EPIC.
